Halloween was a success in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There were many events for South Lake Tahoe treat-or-treaters to enjoy this year in addition to traditional door-to-door candy seekers, from trunk-or-treating at two local churches, Kahle Community Center, Presbyterian Conference Center and the Heavenly Village. There was no shortage of fun and candy!

Over at Heavenly Village, event organizers said thousands of creatively dressed kids, parents, and even pets joined in the festivities. The event was produced by Dreu Murin Productions and supported by Desolation Hotel and the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce. There was face painting, multiple bounce houses, ice skating, live music, DJs, a $1000 costume contest, and of course lots and lots of candy from the village shops and restaurants, and community booths.

“The event completely exceeded my expectations," said Gary Casteel, the CEO of TSI Investments/The Shops at Heavenly Village. "The number of valued locals, visitors, and even our neighbors from the Gardnerville and the Carson Valley attending. The Shops at Heavenly Village is the perfect setting for this event and we were happy to host it. I can’t thank the tenants and selected outside vendors enough for their support.”

Most of the restaurants and shops participated by handing out handfuls of candy as well as vendors including the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, Suicide Prevention Network, Christmas Cheer, Hard Rock Hotel Casino, Black Ice Theatre, Desolation Hotel, Carpenters Union 1789, South Lake Tahoe Fire, South Lake Tahoe Police Department and the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe (BGCLT).

The Pipkin Family Foundation of Desolation Hotel donated $10,000 to BGCLT.

Some political candidates were invited and handed out candy including Tamara Wallace, Duane Wallace, Joby Cefalu, David Jenkins, Kenny Curtzwiler, and Kevin Kiley.

There were 54 stops in all.

“It was so nice to see all of the smiling faces on the kids, teens, and parents. That’s all we could have asked for. Thank you to everyone who participated,” said South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce President Amanda Adams.

1st - Custom-made Pig Scarecrow
