The Friends of the El Dorado County Veterans Monument will host the 8th Annual Veterans Day ceremony in honor of those who have served the cause of freedom.
WHEN: Monday, November 11, 2013 11:00 AM
WHERE: The El Dorado County Veterans Monument
The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 am with the call to order and present colors. During the singing of our National Anthem the distant low rumbling sound that can only be produced by vintage Pratt & Whitney radial engines will be heard as four WWII-era SNJ aircraft in formation soar over the monument in a fly-by salute in honor of those who served the cause of freedom.
Highlights of Veterans Day tribute include:
Guest speaker: Captain John Poimiroo (ret.) US Navy.
Special Guest: J.P. Tremblay, Deputy Secretary , California Department of Veterans Affairs who will deliver Governor Brown’s Veterans Day Proclamation.
Veteran of the year Award: Friends of the Veterans’ Monument annually recognize one veteran on Veterans’ Day as the El Dorado County Veterans’ Monument Veteran of the Year. The award recognizes veterans who have compiled a record of exemplary service as a military service member, in veterans’ issues, and as a citizen of El Dorado County.
Local Girl Scout, Boy Scout troops and veteran service organizations will also participate in the ceremony.
Many generations of veterans and their families will attend and will appreciate the military regalia, patriotic songs, bagpipes, bugler and a 21-gun salute.
