Marcella Foundation and Lift Literature team up to gift 63 Kindles to Sierra House 2nd graders

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It was a day of superheroes at Sierra House Elementary School. Students dressed for the occasion as the Marcella Foundation and Lift Literature joined forces to celebrate reading through their BookMode program. Each second grader received a free Kindle Paperwhite and Bluetooth headset to help create a passion for the joy of reading.

Through this joint initiative, BookMode, the organizations aim to cultivate a lifelong passion for learning.

The South Lake Tahoe school serves as the launchpad for BookMode's pilot program. In just a week, the numbers were impressive and the initiative is making waves already.

The first week's statistics:
Total Pages Read: 15.2k
Total Hours Read: 74.4
Total Books Finished: 64

Bookmode's vision is to continue this program annually and expand to other elementary schools in the area if it proves successful. They are on a mission to help children become young, enthusiastic readers who will carry this passion into adulthood. By equipping each child in a classroom with a Kindle Paperwhite and a Bluetooth headset, BookMode seeks to create an immersive reading experience. Every Kindle comes with a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+, offering access to a vast library of books in both English and Spanish. Each Kindle also has a wide array of audiobooks for kids.

"We’re hoping that BookMode at Sierra House Elementary School demonstrates the transformative power of providing children with the tools and resources to ignite a love for reading," said Marcella Foundation Executive Director Melissa Uppendahl. "The collaboration between the Marcella Foundation and Lift Literature serves as an example of how partnerships can create a positive impact on the lives of young learners. As these second graders embark on a literary journey with their Kindles, the Marcella Foundation and Lift Literature would like to invite volunteers and organizations in the community to join them on this journey."
