Help available for ages 16 to 24 that need a job or training

El Dorado County Connections – One Stop has free services to help people who need a job.

“We have special programs and services for youth ages 16 to 24,” said Jenny Wilson, Program Supervisor with Connections - One Stop. “We are especially looking to assist youth ages 16 to 24 who are not currently enrolled in school.” Through the youth program, unemployed and underemployed youth can receive help with job searches and placement, paid on-the-job training, money for vocational or technical school tuition and more.

According to Wilson, the County’s youth employment services can help youth where they are in their current situation, including those who may be struggling. “If a young person has had a hard time finding work because they don’t have enough work experience, have dropped out of school, are pregnant or parenting, are homeless, involved in the court system, a current foster youth or have other situations, we are here to help,” said Wilson. “We even have cash incentives to help a person earn their high school diploma, GED or work-related certificates.”

Free orientation sessions about employment services offered through the County are open to the public every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Connections - One Stop, located at 3047 Briw Road in Placerville. Pre-registration is not required. Some services are limited or have income restrictions.
