A public meeting providing an overview and update on the environmental document, design elements, and next steps for SR 89/Fanny Bridge Community Revitalization Project is being hosted by the Tahoe Transportation District at Granlibakken Resort, Thursday, Dec. 4.
The primary needs for the proposed project relate to the current traffic congestion and unacceptable safety and travel conditions at and around the Fanny Bridge and state Route 89/28 “Wye” intersection. The project intends to improve the safety of vehicular, pedestrian and cyclist mobility at the Tahoe City “Wye;” increase emergency access and egress; resolve structural integrity of 86-year-old Fanny Bridge; assist in alleviating traffic back-ups and create a vibrant and walkable commercial area.
Community residents, second homeowners, business, property owners, and area visitors are welcome to attend. The environmental documents about the project will be released later this month. Once the documents are reviewed and the public has a chance to weigh in. The lead agencies will consider the project for approval. The design is scheduled to be complete in September 2015. Upon completion the project would go out to bid for constriction, which is tentatively scheduled for May 2016.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Granlibakken Resort is located at 725 Granlibakken Rd, Sunnyside-Tahoe City, CA.
