El Dorado County Commission On Aging seeks new member

The El Dorado County Commission on Aging is actively recruiting to fill a vacancy.
The Commission plays a very important advisory role to the Area Agency on Aging, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors and the Cities of South Lake Tahoe and Placerville on matters of interest to senior residents. All volunteer positions are by appointment.

The Commission focuses its efforts on such issues as the promotion of services that enable seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible, providing liaison and support to senior organizations in the community and presenting and supporting educational programs and events for seniors. They also develop the Area Plan on Aging, and provide outreach and support for the Area Agency and County programs for seniors.

Commissioners need to be able to drive throughout the county to both monthly and committee meetings, and represent the commission though out the county at various meetings and events.

The Commission strives to attain a balanced geographic representation. Applicants are being sought from all areas of the County. Preference will be given to those applicants who are 60 years and older.

You may obtain an application by contacting Jan Haney at 530-642-7276 or at Janice.haney@edcgov.us. You may also contact the current City of South Lake Tahoe Representative, Gerri Grego, at 530-545-2839 for more information.
