New South Lake Tahoe resident arrested on grand theft charges, outstanding warrants

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Sandeep Kumar, 29, was arrested by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) on November 17. He is accused of stealing several hundred dollars from his employer.

According to SLTPD Sgt. Russell Liles, Kumar is a new resident of South Lake Tahoe and had worked for the business he allegedly stole from for only a couple of weeks. Upon arrest, it was discovered Kumar had outstanding warrants including one from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Liles said they contacted and arrested Kumar for burglarizing his place of employment. The suspect had arrived at the business on his day off and allegedly took approximately $1,600 in cash

Once charges are addressed in South Lake Tahoe it is expected he will be transferred to another jurisdiction to address charges there.

Kumar is currently in the El Dorado County Jail on the following charges:

459 PC- Burglary: Second degree - All other larceny, Felony
211 PC- Robbery, Felony. Bail:
8 1227- Deportation proceedings (F) [Felony]
487(A) PC- Grand theft: Money/labor/property - From building, Felony

Total Bail: $365,000

The only charge from South Lake Tahoe is the grand theft charge.
