Alpine Smith of South Lake Tahoe offers free snow removal to military families

South Lake Tahoe military families and wounded or disabled veterans can receive free snow and ice removal this winter from Alpine Smith, Inc.

In their fifth year of providing this service, Alpine Smith, Inc joins ranks with Project EverGreen's Snowcare for Troops program to help ease the burden on military families or disabled and wounded veterans needing assistance this winter.

“We’re proud to support the SnowCare for Troops program and lend a hand to help our local military families and veterans who already carry so much on their shoulders, the last thing they should be worrying about is digging out after the next snowstorm,” said Darin Smith, President, of Alpine Smith, Inc. “This is just one small way that we can say thank you for their dedication to country and military service.”

SnowCare for Troops, sponsored by BOSS Snowplow, was launched in 2010 and currently serves more Snow Belt regions. Nearly 1,400 snow and ice contractors currently volunteer to provide these much needed services but there is always room for more as the need grows.

“With more than 1.4 million active-duty personnel currently serving in the U.S. military including more than 160,000 personnel deployed in 150 countries across the globe, the need to support the families of those holding down the home front is significant,” says Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen.

Before the next snow fall, interested military families are urged to register for the program by calling 530-541-0250 or by emailing info@alpinesmith.com. They can also visit the Project EverGreen website at www.projectevergreen.com/scft or call toll free at 1-888-611-2955.

Along with the participation of Alpine Smith, Inc., there are many opportunities for the community to get involved, including loaning snow removal equipment to volunteers or groups, and donating money, transportation or gas cards to offset snow removal and maintenance costs.

The SnowCare for Troops program joins the five-year program, GreenCare for Troops, managed by Project EverGreen that has already provided free lawn and landscape services to thousands of military families. This program now has more than 12,000 military families in its database and is supported by nearly 3,500 green industry professionals and volunteers.
