Incline Village trustees unable to come to consensus on who to fill open IVGID spot

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - They were tasked with interviewing seven candidates to fill an open seat on the Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) on Wednesday, but the current four trustees could not come to an agreement on who to fill the spot left vacant by the resignation of Phil Horan.

During the process, each trustee listed their top three candidates after the interviews to begin deliberation. Chairperson Wong and Trustee Morris listed applicants Mike Hess, Tony Lillios, and Michaela Tonking (in no particular order) as their top three candidates, while Trustees Callicrate and Dent listed only Sara Schmitz and no second or third choice.

With no one candidate receiving support from at least three Trustees, the process ended.

According to the process described in Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 318 concerning General Improvement Districts, trustees are tasked with appointing a candidate to fill an open seat within 30 days after the vacancy occurs, otherwise the task of appointment is forwarded on to the Washoe County Board of Commissioners.

Horan gave his notice during the IVGID meeting on November 13, announcing his last day would be December 13 as he was moving from the area.

With no consensus reached during the special meeting, the IVGID Board of Trustees voted to forward the appointment decision to the Washoe County Board of Commissioners to address immediately.
