Cave Rock and Sand Harbor boat launches closed Christmas and New Years Day
Submitted by Editor on Wed, 12/21/2011 - 8:56am
The Lake Tahoe boat launch facilities at Cave Rock and Sand Harbor are closing on both Christmas, December 25, and New Year’s Day, January 1, 2012. No inspections or decontaminations will be available either of these days.
These closures are due to the holidays and program staff shortages. Normal operating hours throughout the winter are daily, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Cave Rock and Saturday and Sunday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Sand Harbor. Efforts are underway to adjust and extend these hours to better accommodate fishermen.
Watercraft inspectors for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Boat Inspection Program are provided by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District. This program is critical in protecting Lake Tahoe from the threat of aquatic invasive species such as Quagga and Zebra mussels.
