Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah

Dear Readers:

Thank you very much for being a reader of South Tahoe Now. This has been a whirlwind of a year, and ending with another whirlwind of activity as we all prepare to celebrate the holidays with our family, friends, and loved ones. It seems like just yesterday that we finished our Thanksgiving turkeys and started thinking about shopping for gifts.

I can't think of a better day than today to reflect on the past year, remember our victories, our struggles, and all that we have to be grateful for. So much can change in our homes, our lives, and in our community from one year to another, and I feel it's important to enjoy the good times and make fabulous memories.

There is one message I'd like to share and try and encourage all to use it in the coming year: Be Kind. Two simple words yet many forget their meaning. We can have differing opinions, but respectful discussion about those opinions has gone by the wayside.

It's easy to be kind during the holidays, but wouldn't it be great to be kind all year long? We are on this earth for a very short time, why spend it being mean and fighting on social media, in public, or in other forms?

I will be using the hashtag #BeKindSLT more often and encourage stories of kindness to be shared. Wouldn't it be great to be known as a Community of Kindness?

I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever you choose to celebrate this season,

Paula
