Lights. Camera. Action! Crew of South Lake Tahoe locals needed for new production

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A production company will be filming in the South Lake Tahoe region for approximately six weeks starting sometime in February through March 2021 and they are looking for a large local crew to work on the project.

The project is a secret at this time but their list of local needs is bigger than most that film in the Lake Tahoe area: cast wranglers, production assistants, location helpers, drivers, camera operators, sound/audio crew, and grips.

The El Dorado County Film Office said there are needs for about two dozen production assistants and, according to Kathleen Dodge, its executive director, the job looks very interesting.

If you have a place to stay in the South Shore area and can work as a local in South Lake Tahoe, please send your resume and a brief cover letter to Kathleen Dodge, film@eldoradocounty.org. She will be sending them to the producers that will be reviewing as soon as received.

Most production companies that come to El Dorado County ask for "crew lists." Dodge said people can join the local list at any time (https://filmtahoe.com/crew-lists/) along with sending her resumes with cover letters for the February South Lake Tahoe project.

Even with the pandemic, production has continued for television and movies. Two shows recently filmed in South Lake Tahoe, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Film crews are listed as "essential" and their safety protocols are extensive while on location.

One horror movie was filmed in its entirety at the Strawberry Lodge at the beginning of the pandemic, Dodge said. Director Deon Taylor brought the whole crew to the Sierra for "Don't Fear." The movie is about a group of people who find themselves locked down at the lodge in the middle of a pandemic and while having to cope with spending extra time with each other, they find that maintaining their sanity and distance from one another proves to be harder than it seems.
