October report: Area casinos see rise in gaming win

Nevada’s non-restricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $1,321,624,724 for the month of October 2021, a gain of 71.38 percent over the same period in 2020. The South Shore Lake Tahoe casino's win was up 5.96 percent over the same period with their gaming revenue of $18,162,310, according to the State's monthly gaming revenue report Wednesday.

Last month's report showed a large loss on the South Shore after the Caldor Fire forced evacuations of South Lake Tahoe and Stateline.

A strong showing on the Las Vegas Strip put the state up by such a high percentage. Revenues at casinos on the strip were up 115.86 percent over last year. Last month, the revenue at those casinos was up 80.64 percent, showing a rebound from a year with COVID closures.

North Lake Tahoe casinos saw a 5.11 percent gain in the "win" with their reported $1,920,301.

The "gaming win" represents the computed income of casinos before business expenses and taxes.

Carson City and the Carson Valley's win was $11,192,647, up 25.18 percent from October 2020.

Meanwhile, casinos in Reno, Sparks, and other areas of Washoe County also saw gaming-related revenue in the positive, with Sparks climbing 23.72 percent, Reno, 27.17 percent, and the county as a whole, 23.90 percent.

The State has collected $502,209,453 in percentage fees to date for the fiscal year which began July 1.
