Christmas Cheer and Sierra-at-Tahoe staff helped by generosity from locals and Reno Toy Run

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - For the past 25 years, hundreds of Northern Nevada families have had a special Christmas thanks to the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs (COC) Toy Run.

The Reno Toy Run raised over $100,000 in 2022 and organizers were able to give $4.000 to Christmas Cheer, the only California-based group to receive a check. The Brotherhood Motorcycle Club is a COC member and presented the check to Christmas Cheer in South Lake Tahoe. Christmas Cheer had fourteen volunteers on-site daily to help take care of local families.

“I love this community and have been a part for over 45 years. We saw what Dreu Murin was doing with the Lucky Beaver Toy Drive and we wanted to help," said Kenny Curtzwiler on behalf of the COC and the Brotherhood Motorcycle Club, "I am honored to present this check to Christmas Cheer who does so much for our great community. Thank you to Joanne and all the volunteers for their commitment.”

COC said they can't fix everything, but want to help bring hope to the community according to Curtzwiler.

“We are so thankful for all the support this year. We couldn’t do it without all the support from the community. Thanks to the help from Dreu Murin, Kenny Curtzwiler The Shops at Heavenly Village, Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger, and others in the community, no family will go without this holiday season. I am just so thankful,” said Joanne Shoppe, executive director of Christmas Cheer.

Curtzwiler also presented a frozen chicken to every Sierra At Tahoe employee for Christmas, something he has done for eight years. This year he gave 144 chickens.
