SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County Sheriff's Office responds to calls throughout the county. The following are calls that only pertain to the South and West Shore, including Meyers, South Lake Tahoe, Meeks Bay, Tahoma, and the Echo Summit area. There may be some missing calls due to sheriff's logs not being completed at the time of the story.

Letters: January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month

As January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, one might ask, “exactly what is human trafficking?”

Human trafficking is defined as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons by means of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, for the purpose of exploitation. Sex trafficking is defined as a commercial sex act that is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age. Of particular note is the automatic classification of trafficking in children under 18 years of age.

DCSO looking for man involved in armed robbery and attempted child abduction

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is looking the driver of a vehicle involved in an armed robbery and attempted abduction of a juvenile female between October 5-9 in the Gardnerville Ranchos area.

The vehicle involved in both crimes is similar to the one pictured in the photo above. It is a black older model Chevy Tahoe with scratches on the sides, dirty and dark windows.

One witness described the driver as a Hispanic or Native American male adult.

A former U.S. Marine is expected to plead guilty to kidnapping on Thursday morning in a bizarre case that led to a lawsuit against Vallejo police for falsely accusing the two victims of faking their own abduction, according to court filings.

Pair accused of abducting their children located in Carson City

A Secret Witness tip has led to the location of Dason Valdez and Krystle Reid, the parents accused of abducting their two children on September 12 after losing custody of their two- and four-year olds.

Just after midnight Thursday morning, the Carson City Sheriff's Office found the pair and arrested Valdez on a Carson City warrant and they released Reid at the scene. Charges against both are pending in Douglas County but the arrest is based on an previous warrant.

Authorities look for pair involved in abduction of two Douglas County children

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is looking for the two parents involved in the Monday evening abduction of two children from their grandparent's home in the northern portion of the county.

On September 12, 2016 at approximately 5:10 p.m., Dason Valdez,29, and Krystle Reid, 27, were allegedly involved in a domestic incident with Valdez’s mother at an address in the Indian Hills subdivision.

In the early morning hours of June 10, 1991, 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard was walking to the school bus stop in South Lake Tahoe when Philip and Nancy Garrido abducted her and imprisoned her for 18 years in the back yard of their Antioch California home. The only clues came from the sole eye witness to the kidnapping, Carl Probyn – Jaycee’s step father, who provided information on the car and one of the occupants.

Court rejects Jaycee Lee Dugard's lawsuit against the government

The federal government cannot be held responsible for kidnapping survivor Jaycee Dugard's 1991 abduction and subsequent 18 years in captivity, an appeals court said Tuesday.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Dugard's lawsuit alleging federal parole officials should have revoked her abductor's parole well before he kidnapped her, but failed to do their jobs.

Man jailed in South Lake Tahoe last year arrested in SF for alleged child abduction

A man arrested in South Lake Tahoe one year ago has been charged in last week's attempted kidnapping of a toddler who was riding on a MUNI bus in San Francisco with his mother.

On November 17, 2015, 45-year-old Sudesh Singh allegedly grabbed the one-year-old boy as his mother was waiting on a bus for a transfer slip. Singh ran onto the bus and took the child, put him into his arms and ran away, according to officials.

The mother chased after them and freed the screaming toddler from Singh, who was a stranger to both of them, police said.

Man sought after trying to abduct a woman in South Lake Tahoe

A man is being sought in South Lake Tahoe after an attempted abduction in the Stateline area on Saturday, October 10.

At 9:40 a.m., officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded to the area of Park and Cedar Avenues after getting a call about a suspicious man who approached a woman, telling her he'd shoot if she didn't go with him. He simulated a gun inside the pocket of his grey hooded sweatshirt.

The scared woman ran away and the suspect fled the area prior to the arrival of police.
