Air service between Reno and San Jose to begin in June

Beginning in June, two flights will be offered from Reno-Tahoe International Airport to San Jose International Airport via Alaska Airlines.
The new service is also tied to flights to Hawaii from Reno offered through Alaska Airlines.

Beginning today the Reno-Tahoe International Airport will be undergoing $40 million in renovations, including a Lake Tahoe-themed ticket lobby. The City of South Lake Tahoe is pleased to announce a promotional ceremony for three new Fire Department Shift Commanders will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011. The ceremony will take place at the City’s Administration Offices (South Lake Tahoe Airport) at 2:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Being promoted to Shift Commander are Jim Drennan, Rob Hembree and Dan Sullivan. In announcing the appointments, City Manager Tony O’Rourke said, “The three Commanders will have significant responsibilities and have demonstrated the capacity to carry them out. We are pleased to announce their promotions.”

A pilot was seriously injured after a twin-engine plane crashed shortly after takeoff near Lake Tahoe.

A special meeting of the South Lake Tahoe City Council to discuss the 2011-12 budget will be held this Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7pm. Not only is this the first look the public will have at the proposed budget, but this may be the only opportunity for public input before layoffs in crucial departments like streets and recreation. The regular council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m.
