MONDAY UPDATE 9:30AM: New figures for the fire were updated this morning. The Creek Fire is now at 78,790 acres with no containment. Almost 1,000 firefighters are working at the fire scene which is under gusty wind and high heat warnings Monday.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans will continue roadwork projects in El Dorado County and Lake Tahoe as weather permits. All grading has been completed until Spring 2020.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $5.2 million project to upgrade metal beam guardrail and construct concrete barriers at 89 locations from the Red Hawk Undercrossing to 1.9 miles west of the junction with State Route 89 in Meyers. Completion is expected this fall or spring 2020.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The following are the call logs for the South Lake Tahoe Police Department May 22-28, 2019. Officers have seen a large influx of transient/homeless calls, burglary, theft, and location checks in the city hot spots. Some of the "regular" transients have returned to the basin for the summer, creating some additional illegal camping warnings, trespass arrests and warnings, and public intoxication calls.

41-year-old male arrested for felony domestic violence and on a warrant out of Santa Clara County for failure to appear.

Most traffic-interfering work will be limited from 6 a.m. Friday, May 24 through 10 p.m. Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day Weekend. The following are the current CalTrans projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It's that time of year once again when Christmas Tree permits go on sale at local Forest Service offices. With a limit of 2,00 permits there is no telling when they'll sell out.

Starting November 14, 2018, The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) will begin selling the $10 permits on a first-come, first-served basis. Permit holders may choose from a variety of pine, fir or cedar trees up to six inches in diameter (at the base) in designated cutting areas.

Some of favorite music in college included hits by Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, the Isley Brothers, the Commodores, Donna Summer and others who were part of the "Motown Sound."

I recently enjoyed a delightful trip down memory lane in the showroom at Harrah's Tahoe during their hit summer-long show, Solid Gold Soul, which is a bit of glamour, glitter and a whole lot of talent.

There was a multi-agency response to a residential structure fire near Antelope and Alder streets in Tahoma on the west shore of Lake Tahoe around 9:48 a.m. Thursday.

When Meeks Bay Fire Protection District (MBFPD) fire engines first arrived, they found the home 50 percent engulfed in flames. Three adults live in the two-story house and two were home at the time of the fire. They were able to get out with no injuries.

The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will begin the sale of personal use fuelwood permits at the Forest Supervisor’s Office in South Lake Tahoe on Monday, June 4, 2018, and at the Incline Village Forest Service office on Wednesday, June 6. Permits cost $20 per cord, with a two-cord minimum purchase and a limit of 10 cords per household.

Permits have specific conditions and complete information is provided when the permit is issued. Maps to designated cutting areas are provided and must be in the permit holder’s possession along with the valid permit when cutting.
