I run a different race about every 6 weeks ranging from mud and trail runs to half marathons with all different types of terrain. Today I witnessed a man die on the course. He suffered a head wound and had a seizure and finally stopped breathing. It took over 10 minutes to get medial personnel to assist, leaving competitors to administer CPR.

Best of Lake Tahoe snowsports season coming up now; storms line up for weekend skiing
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 4:04pmOK, so it hasn't been the best snowsport season so far, but hold on, more snow is coming with storms over this weekend and we'll be able to ski off-piste without worrying about slightly hidden rock and logs. And on top of that, it's spring skiing, always the best of the year. Forget those crowds of December and January, don't recall those icy January days when the wind howled. It's spring skiing, lightly clad with plenty of sun for sitting on the lodge deck.
Plenty of snow at Lake Tahoe for spring skiing, snowboarding
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Fri, 03/09/2012 - 7:49amIt's been a weird ski and riding season, for sure. One indication is that Heavenly Mountain Resort is only operating the Boulder base lodge and the Boulder and North Bowl lifts on weekends. In all the years I taught at Boulder never has had a shutdown like this. Too bad because lots of locals liked Boulder as out-of-towners didn't go there very often. Thus, parking was close and runs not crowded.

The art of creativity and a belief and respect in what each brings to the table brought Marianne Rosenfeld and Julianne Kohn together six years ago.
These two are a duo of hard work and tenacity, where one complements the other.
