The South Shore community is coming together on November 14 at Hard Rock Lake Tahoe's Vinyl for musician Trey Stone who is now in end stage kidney failure. Stone's friends in the musical word are donating their talent for a one night event to support his efforts to heal, get on dialysis and eventually get a kidney transplant.
Tickets are $20 and there will be raffles and a silent auction.
All proceeds will go to healing Trey and helping him continue gracing the world with his talent.
New board members and volunteers sought for Lake Tahoe Humane Society

For months, South Lake Tahoe Police detectives worked through piles of paperwork and film, completing the case for the El Dorado County District Attorney in December. Since then, the case has been in the hands of the DA's office, but nothing has happened yet.

For 50 years the Lake Tahoe Humane Society has offered services to animals in the South Lake Tahoe community. They are now facing challenges after their Executive Director Niki Congero was fired when allegations of embezzlement arose when their bank called them about irregular activity on the agency's debit card.
Just in time to wash grime off South Lake Tahoe cars, Sierra Suds opens

South Lake Tahoe, Calif. - Its been years in the making, and finally, on Monday, March 20, Sierra Suds Car Wash will be open to the public.
In the 1950's, the 23-unit Cedar Lodge was located at 2685 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The motel was eventually demolished and South Lake Tahoe dentist Dr. Jim Getzelman bought the property in hopes of developing it into a car wash.
"We’re trying the best to make this a very clean alternative to washing a car at home,” Getzelman said in March, 2008 of his plans to open the car wash in the fall of that year.

It may only say November on the calendar but it is already time to get your furry family photos taken during the 30th annual Lake Tahoe Humane Society's Santa Paws.
Get your photo taken with Tahoe's original Santa Dog, Hopeful Henry. Bring your pet(s) along to get in on the photo which can be used on greeting cards, ornaments or other keepsakes.
Enjoy some hot chocolate, coffee or Mimosas while you wait! There will also be some fun shopping for both pets and their humans.
100 percent of the proceeds help Lake Tahoe Humane Society's efforts in assisting local animals in need.
NDOT wants people to report illicit drainage and discharge into roads

The Nevada Department of Transportation is urging residents to help protect water quality by preventing and reporting illicit drainage and discharge onto state roads and transportation facilities.
Illicit discharge is anything entering a roadway drainage system that is not natural stormwater. Pesticides, construction dirt or materials, as well as materials from neighboring properties and roadway runoff containing fertilizers, vehicle oil and chemicals are examples.

Waterless Car Wash at Cardinale Way Saturday to help South Tahoe High students

The drought in California has created regulations that are having all homes and businesses reduce water usage by 25%. The South Tahoe Yearbook staff had planned Saturday's carwash before the Governor's message, and instead of canceling they have created a new event: A Waterless Carwash!
STHS and Cardinale Way saw an opportunity to not only help spread the message to reduce water usage, but also to lead by example.

The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce will have a ribbon cutting at the new South Lake Tahoe business, Welcome Home Shoppe Gifts & Decor on June 4 at 4 p.m.
The shop features unique gifts and home decor.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature wine and appetizers. Welcome Home will pay the sales tax on any items purchased at the time.
The new boutique is located in the log cabin at 2777 Lake Tahoe Blvd (in front of Tahoe Keys Cafe and adjacent to the car wash).
South Lake Tahoe Business Gets Washed Up for Snow

It may not be Mother Nature or the weatherman you want to thank for the storm that is coming into South Lake Tahoe today. It just might be the team at Pyramid Peak Ski and Snowboard Rentals.
Why you ask?
"It always rains or snows when you wash your car," said owner Geoff Bottini. He told SouthTahoeNow that when they heard a weather system was arriving that they figured they'd help it along by offering a free car wash. They advertised on their store windows and facebook page about the 10 am to 4 pm event.

Sierra House is holding a 5th Grade Fundraiser Car Wash on Saturday, September 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school's parking lot at 1709 Remington off of Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe.
The students are raising funds for the Annual 5th Grade Field Trip to the Marin Headlands Institute - Nature Bridge program.
The minimum suggested donation is $5.00.

New storm to arrive on Sunday; ski resorts prepare for brisk business

Ski resorts report up to 2 feet of snow from the system which arrived Friday and continues today. The National Weather Service in Reno reports that a second and much colder storm will move into the area on Sunday into Monday, dropping temperatures and bringing more snow. On the west side of town, two new buildings are under construction and one is for sale: a Raley's gas station at its shopping center at the "Y" and a new California Conservation Corps facility in Meyers, next to Lira's Supermarket, are currently being built, while Sierra Recovery Center is seeking to move out of its location on Emerald Bay Road.
The CCC's motto is "Hard Work, Low Pay, Miserable Conditions and More . . . " But things are about to get a little more comfortable for both corps members and staff.
