The public is invited to a Community Health Fair in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday, October 17 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Bijou Community School;s multi-purpose room. Get free or reduced services including flu shots and free dinner from Tacos Por Favor.
El Dorado County will be offering their low-cost flu shots - $10 for everyone six months and older, but they won’t turn anyone away that can’t pay.
Free services include:
- Primary care will be there conducting blood pressure, temperatures, and pulse oximetry
- Covered CA enrollment counselors
- CPR training

Medicare helps to pay for a wide variety of health services, from flu shots to hospital stays, and from preventive health screenings to hospice care.
But it doesn’t cover everything. And it doesn’t cover all your out-of-pocket costs.
Many services covered by Medicare require co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles. You can purchase supplemental insurance to cover these “gaps” in Medicare.
Such coverage is called Medicare Supplement Insurance, or Medigap. Some Medigap policies also cover certain benefits that Medicare doesn’t, like emergency care in a foreign country.
How to keep kids healthy during flu season

Over 3,300 confirmed cases of the flu have been reported to the Washoe County Health District this flu season, leading to at least seven fatalities. These numbers have health officials urging everyone to take preventive measures to keep from contracting the nasty virus now circulating across the country. Of particular concern is this season’s H3N2 influenza virus which appears to be extremely virulent among young children and older adults.

Low cost flu clinics set for South Lake Tahoe

The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Division will begin conducting low-cost community flu vaccination clinics in South Lake Tahoe this fall. Seasonal influenza vaccine will be available in nasal mist and flu shot forms at the clinics.

It's that time of year again for flu shots!
All South Lake Tahoe residents on both sides of the state line are invited to stop by the Tahoe Douglas Fire Station on Saturday, October 25 for a free flu vaccination.
The flu vaccinations are being provided by Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) and Tahoe Douglas Fire.
Shots, mist and high dose for seniors are all available from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Tahoe Douglas Fire Station #23 located at 193 Elks Point Road.

There will be three flu shot clinics put on by the El Dorado Health Department on September 24, October 8, 15, 22, 20 and November 5.

The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Division will begin conducting low-cost community flu vaccination clinics in South Lake Tahoe starting September 25.
Flu shot clinics:
September 25, October 9, October 23, & October 30 from to 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe.
October 16 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bijou School, 3501 Spruce Avenue, in the Teachers’ Lounge, South Lake Tahoe.

Barton Health is offering flu shots today between 3 and 7 p.m. at South Tahoe Middle School. Please note: the parking entrances open for access to the STMS are:
-The Administration entrance at Al Tahoe (1st left on Al Tahoe if coming from hwy 50 or last right on Al Tahoe if coming from the college).
