South Lake Tahoe gymnasts win at first two meets of 2020
Submitted by paula on Thu, 01/30/2020 - 12:17pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — The Inversion Gym Girls Gymnastics Team entered the 2020 season in top form with back-to-back wins at their first two meets. The girls were competing in the Excel Division, sanctioned by USA Gymnastics, at the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum levels. The competitions are all comprised of the four women’s gymnastics events; Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise, with awards also for the best All-Around performances. In each meet multiple teams compete, from gyms around Northern California and Nevada.

Gonzalez is currently being held at the Washoe County Jail on a felony charge for possession of stolen property as well as reckless driving, driving without a driver’s license, fail to stop at the scene of an accident, fail to give information to party at accident and failure to obey a peace officer.

"Best Tasting Water in Nevada" awarded to Douglas County Utilities

This year, after blind tastings and examinations, Douglas County Utilities was the coveted water award during the 2014 Nevada Rural Water Association Training and Technical Conference at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.

High-flying adventure flicks and non-stop entertainment arrives with the 12th annual Lake Tahoe Adventure Film Festival Road Tour stop in Reno on Feb. 22 at the Grand Sierra Resort.
Rooted as the nerve center for skiers, boarders, climbers and year-round adventurers, the film festival provides mountaintops, cliffhangers and enough high-energy entertainment between showings to ignite fervor for 2014.
The night includes guest speakers, action photo displays, break-dancers, DJs and a handful of surprises.

Submitted by Editor on Fri, 02/03/2012 - 11:26amRENO — From a cheering crowd of several hundred at a brief but energetic Mitt Romney rally to a more subdued event for Rick Santorum hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition to another well-attended rally for Ron Paul, it was a trifecta of presidential candidates in Reno ahead of the Saturday GOP caucus.
Romney got the balling rolling at the Grove, with an estimated 800 supporters packed inside and standing outside the event center in South Reno. Romney spoke briefly to those standing outside before giving a short but enthusiastic speech to those crowded inside.
Lake Tahoe, Reno to host Chinese Cosmos pageant
Submitted by Editor on Mon, 09/19/2011 - 5:10pmNevada will host 18 contestants from all over the world who are competing in the Miss Chinese Cosmos Semi-Finals, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, chair of the Nevada Commission on Tourism, announced today in a press release.
The event will take place in Reno and Lake Tahoe from Sept. 23-30, 2011. The contest moves around the world each year, last year taking place in Sydney, Australia. This is the first time the pageant has been held in the United States.
