One man is in custody, and another is being sought, after the suspects led law enforcement on a high speed chase after allegedly stealing a $2,600 bottle of alcohol in Carson City.

Just after 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) received a call from an off-duty police officer who observed a car traveling at a high rate of speed through the Washoe Valley on I-580 towards Reno. WCSO contacted the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) to notify them they were in an active pursuit involving a silver Nissan sedan that was involved in a larceny case from Carson City Nevada.

NHP joined them as the Nissan traveled northbound on I-580 from the south end of Reno. Both agencies dropped off pursuit as the vehicle attained speeds upwards of 100 mph. As the Nissan continued northbound on I-580 it struck a vehicle near Meadowood Mall. The WCSO helicopter (RAVEN) kept a visual on the vehicle as it made its way to the Grand Sierra Resort parking lot off of Mill Street where the two male occupants of the vehicle fled on foot.

Both males proceeded to run into an entrance on the east side of the hotel where one of the males was located and placed into custody by the Nevada Highway Patrol. The other male was observed by hotel security, fleeing the scene in a maroon passenger car with silver rims that had arrived to pick him up. The individual still at large is reported as a white male adult last seen wearing a black shirt or zipper pullover and blue jeans.

Located inside of the abandoned Nissan were various items to include sporting goods and alcohol that are all believed to be stolen.
