A cutting-edge Hebrew reading crash course is taking the Jewish world by storm. The flashcard based language course developed by the Jewish Learning Institute, promises users that they can learn to read Hebrew in only five weeks if they follow the program. Beginning Thursday, Aug. 29 at 10:00am, Rabbi Mordey Richer of Chabad at Lake Tahoe will conduct the five sessions of the course, Read it in Hebrew, at their Ski Run Marina location.

Jewish community responds to Pittsburgh massacre

As the extent of the horror perpetrated in Pittsburgh is being recognized throughout not just Pittsburgh and the United States, but the world, shock and grief have followed in waves. But so, too, has the desire for action, for a concrete response to the worst anti-Semitic attack on American soil.

Rabbi Mordey & Shaina Richler, of Chabad at Lake Tahoe is remembering and honoring the victims locally with the “Pittsburgh Memorial Mezuzah Campaign,” geared to make sure that every Jewish home in the region has a mezuzah—a sacred handwritten parchment scroll that is mounted on the doorpost.

Volunteer Day at the Virginia City Jewish Cemetery

Join the Chabad at Lake Tahoe for the 4th annual trip to Virginia City Jewish Cemetery for the purpose of trimming the vegetation and stabilizing the graves. Help us with this great mitzvah of honoring the deceased.

We are meeting at the parking lot at the end of town 364 C St, Virginia City, Nevada at 9:30am and will continue from there to the cemetery.

Multi-faith clergy gathering at Lake Tahoe to celebrate International Day of Peace

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, area leaders of various religions and denominations are gathering at Lake Tahoe to celebrate International Day of Peace, also known as "Peace Day" on Sept. 21.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, will open the “Interfaith Peace Service” with invocation from oldest scripture of the world still in common use Rig-Veda; besides Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita, both ancient Hindu scriptures; in Sanskrit followed by English translation.
