Angel of Tahoe helps spread holiday joy in South Lake Tahoe for a third year

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Tahoe Youth & Family Services (TYFS) helped spread cheer this season by hosting a special children’s holiday party on Saturday, December 14 at the Lake Tahoe Community College. This event was a collaboration made possible by the generosity and giving heart of the ‘Angel of Tahoe,’ Mrs. Lisa Maloff. For the third year in a row, Mrs. Maloff made a sizeable donation to Tahoe Youth & Family Services with the request for the agency to help make the holiday season special for local children.

As the holidays get closer, life naturally gets busier and healthy habits can get thrown out the window. Holiday parties, Thanksgiving leftovers, and Christmas eggnog take the place of health for a lot of us, and any nutrition goals can be a struggle.

Instead of trying to focus on weight or diet this season, why not use this time to start a healthy cooking habit? You may be busy this time of year, but there will also be several occasions where a home cooked dish is welcomed or expected. If you don’t cook at home regularly, here are some tips to get you started.

Hopeful Henry: Christmas and Holiday pet tips

First lets tackle the “to eat a Christmas Tree or to not eat a Christmas tree” issue. The tree itself is not particularly dangerous if a few needles are ingested, it will most like come right up via kitty or doggie vomiting. The bigger concern is the stagnant tree water as it is a breeding ground for bacteria and your pet could end up with nausea or diarrhea should they drink it. Speaking of the Christmas Tree make sure you securely anchor your Christmas tree so it doesn't tip and fall, causing possible injury to your pet.
