Tahoe Regional Young Professionals to Host October’s Mixer at the Beacon

Tahoe Regional Young Professionals will spice up October with a mixer at the famed lakefront Beacon Bar & Grill at Camp Richardson Resort, Oct. 17 from 6:30 – 9 p.m. Tantalizing “Rum Runner’s” will be available for $5 and will complement their new menu and food specials during the event.

Free Concert at the Hempen' Inn this Sunday

An outdoor free music concert is being held this Sunday, September 30 as a means to raise funds for Adam Rose. On August 21 of this year, Adam was riding his bicycle and was struck by an alleged drunk driver at 12th Street and Emerald Bay Road. He was care-flighted to Reno, was in critical condition for approximately two weeks and is now recuperating at home. Lake Tahoe Home Sales: Is it a Buyer's Market or a Seller's Market?

The median home prices of California homes sold reached a 4-year high in August according to the California Association of Realtors. In their August sales report released this week, CAR reports that home sales fell off slightly for the month but are maintaining a strong pace with 5 straight months of year over year sales gains. Well known South Lake Tahoe artist Peter Darvas injured in Pioneer Trail fire

Well-known South Shore Lake Tahoe artist Peter Darvas was being treated at Barton Memorial Hospital on Tuesday evening after he tried putting out a house fire on Pioneer Trail.

Authorities said the fire, reported shortly before 6 p.m., was at the corner of Edna and Pioneer Trail. Darvas’ home, according to city records, is at 3128 Pioneer Trail – at that corner.

According to a message from City Manager Nancy Kerry to Councilman Tom Davis, Darvas was in the house and tried to put the fire out. He was being treated at Barton Memorial Hospital.

More than 3,100 volunteers are needed to successfully execute the first full-distance IRONMAN® event in California since 2001 - IRONMAN Lake Tahoe, which is scheduled for September 22, 2013.

World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), owner and operator of the IRONMAN Series, will host an IRONMAN Lake Tahoe Volunteer Meeting Monday, September 17, 7 p.m., at the North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard, Kings Beach, California.

Of the 3,100 volunteers needed to provide behind-the-scene logistics and ground execution, 100 will serve as captains to ensure a safe and fun event.

Closed sales of South Lake Tahoe homes continue to rise in August

The August real estate figures are in for South Lake Tahoe and there are no surprises. We continue to see increased sales, decreased new listings and decreased number of homes on the market. The only thing that really isn't following the expected pattern is the median home price of homes sold in the area.

A 25-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested and faces felony burglary and drug charges after a chase Monday that went from South Lake Tahoe across the state line.
Deonte Brown is suspected of stealing, among other things, a 2002 Lexus convertible from a Zephyr Cove home, South Lake Tahoe authorities said. He was booked into Douglas County Jail.

El Dorado County is accepting applications for its new Federal Coordination Advisory Committee. Various provisions of federal law mandate that federal agencies coordinate certain activities with local agencies before making decisions which may impact local government, according to a news release sent by Mike Applegarth, principal analyst for the county's chief administrative office.
It is important that county government track and analyze federal decisions in order to timely invoke the right of coordination and participate in the decision-making process.
