Peak Innovation brings together thought leaders and practitioners who are designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions to challenging social and environmental issues.

Gather together and celebrate the memory of loved ones. Barton Health’s Hospice will host their annual “Light up a Life” interfaith memorial ceremony to honor those we have loved and lost. The event is free and all attendees will receive a free personalized ornament.
If you would like to honor someone during the ceremony, please contact Barton Health’s Hospice staff. Unable to attend, but would like to share your honorees? Hospice staff members will graciously read out loud any honorees’ names provided ahead of time.
Santee, California becomes 9th city to declare Oct 25 as “Rajan Zed Day”
Submitted by paula on Fri, 10/18/2013 - 3:09pmCity of Santee in California has become the ninth city in USA to declare October 25 as “Rajan Zed Day” after religious statesman Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism and lives in Reno.
Cities of Hartford (Connecticut), Taylorsville (Utah), Madera (California), Sparks (Nevada), Chowchilla (California), Sanger (California), Exeter (California) and Tulare (California) have already declared October 25 as “Rajan Zed Day”. City of Reno has also proclaimed a day in Zed’s recognition twice in the past.

Religious leaders of Roman Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Baha’i, United Methodist, Presbyterian, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Unification Church traditions participated in the dedication ceremony of this new building of Temple Beth Or (House of Light), a Jewish congregation launched in 2009, and read their respective prayers.

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, area leaders of various religions and denominations are gathering at Lake Tahoe to celebrate International Day of Peace, also known as "Peace Day" on Sept. 21.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, will open the “Interfaith Peace Service” with invocation from oldest scripture of the world still in common use Rig-Veda; besides Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita, both ancient Hindu scriptures; in Sanskrit followed by English translation.

Light up a Life — an annual South Lake Tahoe interfaith ceremony that provides the community an opportunity to gather and honor those of whom they've loved and lost — will be Thursday, Dec. 6, 5:30 p.m. at Inn by the Lake. The ceremony provides all to reflect and community members the chance to share and pay tribute to the memory of those lost who remain close.
El Dorado County Board of Supervisors to open with Hindu prayers
Submitted by Editor on Fri, 07/13/2012 - 12:22pmThe El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will begin its July 17 meeting with a Hindu invocation with verse from the world's oldest existing scripture, the first time since its 1850 incorporation. Hindu statesman Rajan Zed will deliver the opening prayer from ancient Sanskrit scriptures before the leaders. After Sanskrit delivery, he then will read the English translation of the prayer. Sanskrit is considered a sacred language in Hinduism and root language of Indo-European languages.

Congregation strives to bring even more 'Unity' to the South Shore

Unity at the Lake began as a small study group in Karen Martin's living room and 17 years later is a thriving, diverse and open spiritual community that well over a hundred locals and visitors call their spiritual home. Their spiritual leaders, Stew and Hillary Bittman, are currently in the process of becoming ordained Interfaith Ministers. Unity has published the "Daily Word" since 1924.
