This fall, Rabbi Mordey Richler of Chabad at Lake Tahoe will offer Worrier to Warrior, a new six-session course, to help people deal with life challenges by accepting themselves and finding meaning in adversity.

Beginning Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10:00am, participants in the course will take on life’s challenges by examining factors that prevent us from achieving a more positive outlook—guilt, shame, and fear of inauthenticity—in light of the notion that a purposeful life provides the key to well-being.

A musical performance by world-renowned Bentzi Marcus from the Eig8th Day will be featured at the 6th anniversary party of Chabad at Lake Tahoe on August 19 at 6:30 p.m. Hear some good old Fiddler on the Roof songs mixed with some Israeli and traditional Jewish music.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - "Never again," chanted the dozens of people that showed up to Trout Creek Thursday to show support of the Jewish community after anti-Semitic graffiti was found underneath the bridge on Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Chabad at Lake Tahoe is holding an "Evening of Unity, Solidarity and Prayer" in response in the wake of the horrific Poway Chabad House shooting that left one dead and three injured.

“Our hearts are shattered by the cold-blooded attack on our brothers and sisters—Jews of all walks of life gathered at Chabad of Poway in celebration and prayer to the Almighty on Shabbat and the final day of Passover,” said Rabbi Mordey Richler. “We mourn the holy soul of Lori Gilbert-Kaye, and we pray for the healing of all the injured.”

For more than 3,300 years, Jewish families from all over gather around the festive table on the eve of Passover to commemorate the Exodus from Egypt and celebrate the “Seder” feast.

This is no ordinary meal; the Passover Seder (which actually means “order”) incorporates 15 multi-sensory steps that reach deep into the human psyche in every way possible and all at once: Rich melodies, dynamic visuals, prayers and stories, even the visceral senses of taste, smell and touch are part of the interminable tradition.

With criminal justice reform center-stage in the United States, Chabad will offer Crime and Consequence, a new CLE accredited six-session course by the acclaimed Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) exploring 3000 years of Jewish perspective on conviction, sentencing, and criminal rehabilitation.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 4 at 7:00pm participants in the course will challenge their thinking, ponder the implications of ancient Talmudic wisdom for complex modern cases, and get to the heart of the most pressing injustices facing our criminal justice system today.

Donations have been transported by the car and truck load from South Lake Tahoe to Paradise, full of help for the victims of the Camp Fire which, to date, has destroyed 9,700 homes, businesses and other structures and burned 149,500 acres.

One of those loads was delivered by 13-year-old Jaymee Levin.

Comedian Howie Nave is taking his show on the road, this time to the Carson Comedy Club inside the Carson Nugget September 7 and 8.

A cutting-edge Hebrew reading crash course is taking the Jewish world by storm. The flashcard based language course developed by the Jewish Learning Institute, promises users that they can learn to read Hebrew in only four weeks if they follow the program. Beginning Monday, Aug. 13 at 7:00 p.m., Rabbi Mordey Richer of Chabad at Lake Tahoe will conduct the four sessions of the course, Read it in Hebrew, at their Ski Run Marina location.

Join the Chabad at Lake Tahoe for the 4th annual trip to Virginia City Jewish Cemetery for the purpose of trimming the vegetation and stabilizing the graves. Help us with this great mitzvah of honoring the deceased.

We are meeting at the parking lot at the end of town 364 C St, Virginia City, Nevada at 9:30am and will continue from there to the cemetery.

South Shore resident Larry Sidney narrowly missed earning a spot on the historic Israeli Olympic Skeleton team headed to PyeongChang in February.

"It's amazingly exciting to be part of it," said Sidney on his return to Lake Tahoe after months of traveling the world and participating in skeleton races in pursuit of an Olympic spot.

Chanukah -The Festival of Lights- for many of us brings back fond memories of childhood years and serves to renew our sense of identity. The Chanukah lights provide us with warmth, joy, strength and inspiration. Such is the purpose of a community-wide celebration to be held at the Ski Run Marina on December 12, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

Holocaust Survivor Dr. Jacob Eisenbach will be the special guest speaker at Chabad at the Ski Run Marina in South Lake Tahoe on July 13 at 7:00 p.m.

Jacob Eisenbach was born in Poland in 1923. Nicknamed “Kuba” by his father, Eisenbach grew up in a loving household with all of the hopes and dreams of any family… he was to be a doctor, his brother Sam, an author… his sister dreamed of a career as a pharmacist. That all changed when Hitler’s army invaded Poland in 1939.

What was it like for Anne Frank and other young people during the Holocaust? Or for families getting off the boat in New York and making their way through Ellis Island? Who were the women who led the fight for the right to vote?

These stories were told to students in South Lake Tahoe this week through the Living Voices program presented at South Tahoe and Mt. Tallac High Schools and South Tahoe Middle School.

In a remarkable interfaith gesture, leaders of various religions and denominations blessed the new building of a Jewish synagogue in Reno on October 10 evening.

Religious leaders of Roman Catholic, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Baha’i, United Methodist, Presbyterian, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Unification Church traditions participated in the dedication ceremony of this new building of Temple Beth Or (House of Light), a Jewish congregation launched in 2009, and read their respective prayers.

RENO — From a cheering crowd of several hundred at a brief but energetic Mitt Romney rally to a more subdued event for Rick Santorum hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition to another well-attended rally for Ron Paul, it was a trifecta of presidential candidates in Reno ahead of the Saturday GOP caucus.

Romney got the balling rolling at the Grove, with an estimated 800 supporters packed inside and standing outside the event center in South Reno. Romney spoke briefly to those standing outside before giving a short but enthusiastic speech to those crowded inside.
