Date and Location Change for El Dorado County District 5 Candidates Forum

A candidates forum for the El Dorado County District 5 Supervisor race will be held on July 29th at 6:30 p.m. at the California Conservation Corps (CCC) Tahoe Center building in Meyers.

The forum was rescheduled from it's original date of July 22.

TahoeChamber, Tahoe Daily Tribune and Tahoe Regional Young Professionals will host the forum in anticipation of the November election in which two candidates, Kenny Curtzwiler and Sue Novasel, will campaign for the position to be vacated by current Supervisor Norma Santiago.

Final Vote Count in for El Dorado County District 5 Race: Sue Novasel and Kenny Curtzwiler Face Off in November

The results from the June 3rd election are in for El Dorado County Supervisor. Sue Novasel retained her lead by getting 28.47% of the vote (1,557 votes) and Kenny Curtzwiler came from behind and ended up with 17.87% of the vote (977 votes). Kevin Brown from Pollock Pines had the 2nd place lead after the precincts were counted but lost ground on the mail-ins and provisional votes. He ended up behind third place finisher Angela Swanson who was 10 votes behind Curtzwiler.

The top two vote getters move onto the General Election in November.

Sue Novasel Still Leads Supervisor Race But Her Opponent Is Now Uncertain

It may be a couple of weeks until all of the votes are counted for the June 3rd primary, and by the end of it all we may see a different outcome from the one seen Tuesday.

Sue Novasel and Kevin Brown were in the lead after Tuesday's election for the District 5 seat on the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. Novasel came out on top with Brown coming in second and with the top two vote getters proceeding to the November runoff most assumed it would be those two names they'd see on the ballot.

My name is Kenny Curtzwiler and I have lived, worked and enjoyed South Lake Tahoe as a resident since 1977 when I came here for a vacation and stayed on as so many have. Many of you know me as The Skibum. Many of you know me as the Bartender at Carlos Murphy’s for 19 years and many of you know me as a Contractor and owner of K & K Services, a Tree Service and Roofing company. Regardless of how you know me the point is you know me, you know my thoughts and position on everything that concerns our community. There is no hidden agenda with me.

Candidates Sue Novasel, Kenny Curtzwiler and Angela Swanson were the only County Supervisor candidates to respond, and Douglas County Sheriff candidates Ron Pierini and Dave Brady were the only Sheriff candidates to respond. Outside consultants, developers and various other alphabet agency’s telling us the same thing over and over again on what we need. The County and community has already done the work on what decisions need to be made with the final decisions being made by the residents of our area.

Six Will Vie for Open El Dorado County Supervisor District 5 Spot , So Far

The deadline to turn in all required paperwork in the El Dorado County Supervisor race for District 5 is Friday, March 7 at 5 p.m. So far six candidates have provided their "SOQ" Statement of Qualifications. A seventh candidate, Michelle Sweeney, has taken out papers and may still turn them in before Friday's deadline.

If the TTD took the $70 Million that they say it will cost to build the loop road and fix up the area they would still have enough over to give us a free bus system like most of the other resort towns. They are not alleviating any traffic flows or amount of cars only diverting them faster to Nevada. After-fireworks party cleanup at El Dorado and Regan beaches

Join K&K Services on Thursday for its 14th annual 5th of July Volunteer Beach Cleanup. Beginning at 6 a.m. volunteers will pick up what everyone else left behind after the fireworks show. The cleanup begins on El Dorado Beach and then moves along to Regan Beach. According to organizer Kenny Curtzwiler, the cleanup usually yields about 40 yards of trash. El Dorado Beach is located on Highway 50 at Lakeview Avenue. The community is invited. Bring gloves.

IHOP shooting victim, part-time Tahoe resident Wally Gunderson, continues to recover after being shot in the leg during a rampage by a gunman at the Carson City restaurant on Sept. 6. Gunderson, 67, was injured after 32-year-old Eduardo Sencion entered the Carson City restaurant and began firing, then turned the gun on himself.
