Supervisor Candidate Kenny Curtzwiler: Stop With the Bleeding of Our Financial Resources

South Tahoe Now sent a questionnaire out to all of the candidates for El Dorado County Supervisor. We will be posting them in the order received.

1) What do you see as the Number 1 issue facing residents of District 5? Outside consultants, developers and various other alphabet agency’s telling us the same thing over and over again on what we need. The County and community has already done the work on what decisions need to be made with the final decisions being made by the residents of our area.

2)What will you do to address this problem? Stop with the bleeding of our financial resources trying to reinvent the wheel. Work with the residents face to face and not behind their back. We need someone who actually talks with all residents not just the select few.

3)There seems to be a divide between west slope and east slope residents. Do you agree? If so, how will you address this? I agree that there is a divide. You have to be able to pick your battles and going against the west slope is going to be difficult at best due to not only the geographical distance of the county seat but our representation is limited to 20% of any supervisorial vote. I think there is a greater divide between our city and the county and will be working on that issue.

4)Tell me about yourself and why you are qualified for this elected position? Please list your background in the community, education, committees, etc. I have almost always worked in the background as far as community involvement is concerned such as the community beach clean up on July 5th every year to clean up after the 4th. We, my company, have been doing this for the last 16 years. I was involved with the rebuilding and rededication of the Children’s Memorial Tree. I am heavily involved with Christmas Cheer. Our company also re-vegetated and cleaned up the high school football field by removing the trail to the announcers shack and reroofed it also as well as removed the hazardous trees. I donate all of my services to everything I do for the community. I have been educated through my Military experience on real world issues and local issues through my community involvement as a contractor and writer of The Tahoe Skibum articles.

5) What can you bring to the table to make sure District 5 gets representation at the Board of Supervisors when there are other strong voices? Be informed of all the issues at hand and understand the issues. Too many times the loudest voice is not the strongest voice but the voice that understands the issues complexities and has actually read them will prevail.

6) Do you consider yourself a team player? Why? Yes. In the Military we work as a team. My family works as a team. As a contractor I learned to work with all the various parties involved and we worked as a team.

7) How will you reach out to your constituents if elected? First off they are not constituents but residents of this community. I will have an office located in the area and if anyone wants to they can call me or better yet just come over to my house to discuss anything that they have concerns with. Remember, I have lived and worked in this community for 37 years, bartended for 23 and written an article for 18 and probably know just about everyone in town. I am heavily involved with all aspects of life in our community. Whenever something needs to be done people usually call me because they know I will follow through and get whatever it is done.

8) What do you want voters to know about you? I will not participate nor answer questions in any forums or publications that allow anonymous posters.

9) If you could ask your fellow candidates a question, what would it be and what is your answer? I don’t really have a question for them.

Curtzwiler will be having a fundraiser on May 10 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Flight Deck. Deep Fryed Mojo will be playing along with food and drink specials offered by Tom, the owner. Kenny will be celebrating his birthday during this event as well. Open to the public! If you have any questions for him, please contact him at skibumfamily@sbcglobal.net.
