EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - This won't be a normal labor Day weekend in Lake Tahoe due to COVID-19 and fire restrictions, but things can still be enjoyed, just differently.
“Before COVID-19, many of us would spend the Labor Day weekend getting together with friends and extended families to enjoy a little down time from work, as is the American tradition. This year, things have changed, but we can still enjoy our holiday weekend safely," said El Dorado County Public Health Officer Dr. Nancy Williams.

With the cancellation of the 19-year long tradition of fireworks over Labor Day in South Lake Tahoe due to budget constraints, the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority and other local businesses have pulled together to present a full menu of things to do on the South Shore from a laser light show to concerts and a carnival.

Have you ever longed to be on board the MS Dixie II or Tahoe Queen as they race along the waters of Lake Tahoe?
Now is your chance to be an honorary captain during the annual Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race held over the Labor Day Weekend on August 30th.
The two winning captains will be invited on board during the race with three of their friends. They'll all be treated to a lavish buffet and commemorative basket.

The Great Sternwheeler Race between the MS Dixie and Tahoe Queen on Saturday at 10 am. The boats will leave their respective piers and head for their opponent's. Action at Ski Run Marina, Zephyr Cove Resort and points in between.
