Summer 2019 edition of Tahoe In Depth now available

STATELINE, Nev. – The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) has published the summer 2019 edition of Tahoe In Depth. The award-winning newspaper, in its seventh year of publication, strives to provide residents, visitors, and policymakers with information about protecting, enjoying and exploring the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Lake Spirit Awards highlight ways to protect Lake Tahoe

LAKE TAHOE, Nevada – Five people were recognized at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) meeting Wednesday for their commitment to protecting and enhancing Lake Tahoe’s unique natural environment.

Since 2011, TRPA has awarded the Lake Spirit Awards to individuals from both the North and South Shores who are either citizens or agency representatives/environmental scientists.

Building trails, promoting climate change awareness, organizing beach cleanups, and preserving cultural resources are some of the ways this year’s award winners show their dedication to Lake Tahoe.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - It takes real people making real progress to conserve Lake Tahoe’s unique natural environment. The 2019 Lake Spirit Awards will honor those committed to a spirit of cooperation and protecting Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) will accept nominations for the awards through Friday, March 29, 2019. The nomination form for the Lake Spirit Awards can be found online at http://www.trpa.org/get-involved/lake-spirit-awards/.

Lake Spirit Awards celebrate dedication to Lake Tahoe

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) recognized four people for their commitment to protecting and enhancing Lake Tahoe’s environment with Lake Spirit Awards on Wednesday.

People whose passions include building new paths and trails led the way in nominations this year, with improving mountain biking routes, creating new multi-use paths, and advancing pedestrian and bicycle safety among the interests of the award winners.

Winners of TRPA Lake Spirit Awards announced

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) honored four people with Lake Spirit Awards Wednesday who have shown exceptional commitment to protecting Lake Tahoe and fostering a spirit of collaboration in their work and volunteer time.

This year’s award winners do everything from helping protect Lake Tahoe communities from wildfire and aquatic invasive species to promoting alternative transportation and sustainable lifestyles.

Two South Lake Tahoe women win TRPA Lake Spirit Awards

Rebecca Bryson and Joy Barney of the South Shore were honored for their work in local schools that resulted in progress and environmental improvements in the Lake Tahoe region.

During Wednesday's Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's Governing Board meeting, the two South Shore women were given the Lake Spirit award along with a family and person from the North Shore. The award has been given to "real people making real progress" at restoring Lake Tahoe since 2011.

TRPA Announces Community Appreciation Day and Lake Spirit Awards

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is hosting a Community Appreciation Day event on Thursday, September 29 from 4 - 7 pm to celebrate the Tahoe Basin community's commitment to protecting Lake Tahoe.

This fun, family event will include bluegrass music by local band, Bison, a free BBQ dinner, activities for the kids, an ice cream social hosted by members of TRPA's Governing Board and Advisory Planning Commission, and demonstration booths explaining TRPA's mission.
