TRPA accepting Lake Spirit Award nominations

Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is accepting nominations for Lake Spirit Awards to honor real people making real progress protecting Lake Tahoe. Members of the public are encouraged to nominate exemplary members of the community who are going above and beyond the call of duty to protect the beauty and clarity of the Lake.

Because everyone has a role to play in the preservation and restoration of the Lake, TRPA created the Lake Spirit Awards in 2011 to recognize individuals who show exceptional commitment to the Tahoe Basin. In addition to nominations for exemplary citizens, nominations are also open in the agency representative/environmental scientist category. A North Shore and South Shore winner in each category will be selected.

“We would like to thank and honor those individuals in our community that are making a real difference protecting Lake Tahoe,” said Joanne Marchetta, Executive Director of TRPA. “We are looking for nominees that exhibit not only a strong commitment to the environment, but also model a spirit of collaboration and cooperation.”

Nominations for the Lake Spirit Awards can be submitted online at trpa.org/get-involved/lake-spirit-awards/ and will be accepted through Monday, March 14, 2016. Award winners will be recognized by the TRPA Governing Board and at the South Tahoe Earth Day.
