Citizens assist Douglas County deputies after Walmart burglary

Two Reno residents have been arrested on multiple charges, and a warrant will be issued for a third after the Gardnerville Walmart shoplifting incident turned into a lot more.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on February 17, 2018, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded to the Walmart after three people were seen leaving the store with cameras and camera equipment inside a gray plastic tote. They were seen leaving in a gray KIA with Nevada plates driven by a female.

Escaped Carson City inmate found after crashing stolen water truck

An inmate who walked away from work detail at the Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City on Tuesday has been arrested after crashing a City water truck that he allegedly stole.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) was contacted on Wednesday, March 29 about the attempted theft of a vehicle in northern Douglas County. The reporting party was working on the roof of the Sprint Store on Hwy 395 when he saw the attempt. The suspect was chased away by witnesses, running north towards Fuji Park in Carson City.

Carson City sheriff's detectives seek identity of pair stealing jewelry from store

Carson City sheriff's detectives are looking for two women suspected of stealing several pieces of jewelry from a Carson City store earlier this month.

During the crime, which happened on Monday, Sept. 19, one of the female suspects was able to distract store employees while the other suspect concealed several pieces of jewelry and left the store, said CCSO Detective David LeGros. A small child was with them.

Vehicle pursuit reaches 100 mph after suspects steal expensive liquor in Carson City

4:30 p.m. update: The name of the male taken into custody is 23-year-old Dominic Gonzalez from Newark, Calif. Gonzalez is currently being held at the Washoe County Jail on a felony charge for possession of stolen property as well as reckless driving, driving without a driver’s license, fail to stop at the scene of an accident, fail to give information to party at accident and failure to obey a peace officer.

Crime statistics for South Lake Tahoe, Placerville and the unincorporated area of El Dorado County have been released for 2015, and while some areas have seen a decrease in some types of crime, others have seen some significant changes between 2014 and 2015.

Deputies arrest pair of Grinches who stole holiday gifts

he Washoe County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men today on charges of stealing gifts from generous citizens in the Galena Forest area. The two men have been identified as Sean Madigan, 51, and his son, Depaul Madigan, 22, both of Reno. They are accused of taking Christmas gifts homeowners generously left as a ‘thank you’ for waste services employees.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the theft when several alert citizens called to report the suspicious activity. The homeowners were able to provide a vehicle description and a description of the subjects involved.

Carson City man arrested for double-crossing cops, steals money for drug deal

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday on multiple felony charges after allegedly agreeing to wear a wire for a drug deal and then fleeing with $850 given to him by law officers in order for him to make the transaction, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The man’s 29-year-old sister, also faces felony charges after allegedly aiding and assisting in his escape.

Douglas County authorities report few problems with Lake Tahoe July 4 revelers; 24 arrests countywide

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports the 2013, 4th of July celebration in Douglas County and around Lake Tahoe went well.

The celebratory crowds in the Stateline, Round Hill and Zephyr Cove areas of Lake Tahoe were large and with exception of a few altercations in the downtown Casino Core area, Nevada Beach and Zephyr Cove Beach, the crowd was relatively well behaved. Motorists were cooperative with the road closures and traffic control required for the fireworks display.
