Viking Corner: This week at South Tahoe High
Submitted by paula on Fri, 03/08/2019 - 8:06amThis week at South Tahoe High School, students put on their coats and boots to bear the snow, which continued to fall throughout the week. With temperatures on campus as low as 15F in the morning, it seldom got warmer than 30F. Also this week, the local 4-H club is looking for leadership coaches, and Kody Griffis just signed up to play college football in South Dakota.

Undersheriff Randy Peshon reappointed to state Judicial Council
Submitted by paula on Fri, 09/30/2016 - 7:22amEl Dorado County Undersheriff Randy Peshon has been re-appointed to the state's Judicial Council Collaborative Justice Court Advisory Committee after being nominated by Superior Court Judge Suzanne Kingsbury.
Peshon, who once ran the jail in South Lake Tahoe, has served in this capacity for the past three years and will begin a new three year term on November 1.
Three new Battalion Chiefs for South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue
Submitted by paula on Wed, 07/20/2016 - 11:31pmSouth Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue recently promoted three men to the position of Battalion Chief, a move that Fire Chief Jeff Meston says will improve safety for both citizens and personnel.
Jim Drennan, Tim Spencer and Karl Koeppen are all now Battalion Chiefs for the City of South Lake Tahoe. Between them, they have over 61 years of firefighting experience.

Captain Randy Pershon appointed to Court Advisory Committee
Submitted by paula on Thu, 10/17/2013 - 9:07pmEl Dorado County Sheriff's Department Captain Randy Pershon has been appointed to the Judicial Council Collaborative Justice Courts Advisory Committee. This committee makes recommendations improving the processing of cases in drug courts, domestic violence courts, peer courts, and other community-based treatment courts. They also propose rules, standards, and forms; reviews and recommends legislation; identifies potential funding sources; oversees the treatment court grant process; and acts on assignments referred to it by the Judicial Council.
