August 19, 1973 - May 18, 2020 - Sloan Michael Gordon signed off on a life lived to its very fullest on May 18, 2020. Though taken far too soon, Sloan managed to live 10 lives in the span of his 47 years, punctuated by adventure, mischief, and quality time with his family and friends.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The national Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is fighting for equality in the upcoming midterm elections and to gather support locally, no matter which side of the aisle one votes, an event is being held at Sidellis Brewery on Thursday, October 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
HRC is working with the ALLY clubs at both South Tahoe High School (STHS) and Lake Tahoe Community College to engage LGBTQ voices and mobilize pro-equality voters to hold lawmakers accountable.

Being gay and a high school student in South Lake Tahoe in 2005 was challenging.
"It was a scary, dark place at the time," said Alex Boyar, who 'came out of the closet' at age 14. "Its a much different environment today."
Boyar, along with his mother Dr. Virginia Berry and sister Christina Boyar, stopped by South Tahoe High Thursday to talk to the students of Ally, the Gay-Straight Alliance Club at the school that he co-founded in 2005.

Transgender Bill for School Equality is Passed Into Law

Jerry Brown signed into law Assembly Bill 1266 which allows transgender youth to use whatever bathroom and participate on whichever sports team they believe matches their gender identity. This groundbreaking bill gives students in public K-12 schools the right "to participate in sex-segregated programs, activities and facilities" based on their self-perception, regardless of their birth gender.

Tahoe Pride celebrates LGBT month

The group’s mission: to create a safe, welcoming haven for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents and to promote education and communication throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin.
