California DMV preparing to issue licenses to undocumented workers under AB60

In January of 2015, all undocumented workers in California will have their first chance to have a driver's license. The California legislature passed Assembly Bill 60 in 2013 and since then, officials have been preparing the processes people will need to follow.

Under the bill, all undocumented workers living in California 16 years of age or older can receive driver’s licenses if they complete driver’s education and training, and also pass California’s written and driving tests.

DMV Offers Opportunities for Public Comment on AB60

Californians are invited to attend public hearings being held by the Department of Motor Vehicles on AB60, the state law that directs DMV to issue driver licenses to undocumented California residents.

While no hearings are held in South Lake Tahoe, there will be one in each Southern California and Northern California as well as an on-line telecast.

A live webcast of the hearings will be available. For a direct link, please visit the DMV web page at http://apps.dmv.ca.gov/ab60 during the hearings.

Despite efforts from a handful of other states, Nevada remains the only jurisdiction in the country where online poker is legislatively authorized.
