A 16-year-old male has been taken into custody by South Lake Tahoe Police following a stabbing incident on Friday. Authorities on Saturday found the suspect at 12:30 p.m. in an apartment on Blackwood Trail after interviews of those associated with the alleged suspect. Two other arrests were made.

Suspect in South Lake Tahoe stabbing remains at large; victim suffers arm wound

UPDATE 6:11PM: One person was stabbed and a suspect is at large and being sought by South Lake Tahoe police Friday evening.
The stabbing happened at about 3:46 Friday afternoon in the area of 11th and Eloise. The suspect is described as late teens, a white male, without a shirt, wearing plaid white and blue shorts, a Boston Celtics ball cap being worn backwards, with a backpack and carrying a knife. The stabbing may have stemmed from an incident where the victim, a 22-year-old man, was riding a bicycle and the suspect was on a skateboard. The victim was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to his arm, said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. David Stevenson.

South Lake Tahoe authorities investigate Wednesday shooting on Bonanza Avenue

South Lake Tahoe police are investigating shots that were reportedly fired from vehicles in the 1100 block of Bonanza Avenue on Wednesday night. Evidence suggests that several gun shots were fired and leads are being investigated in this case, according to Lt. David Stevenson of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Needed improvements at the Thunderbird Lodge got a lift on Wednesday when the Nevada Commission on Tourism announced the Lake Tahoe site was among several to win an improvement project grant.
Grants were awarded to 19 different projects. The announcement was made by Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki.
NCOT's Projects Relating to Tourism Grants program help fund infrastructure improvements that will attract visitors, and after a temporary suspension due to a decline in tourism revenues, the grants were reinstated this year.

Skydiver dies after landing in Lake Tahoe, 2 others survive

One skydiver is dead and two others survived their jump near Camp Richardson on Tuesday morning. A fight in a South Lake Tahoe local bar early Sunday morning resulted in two people seriously injured with the bar owner hurt and a patron knocked unconscious to the point of needing CPR.
South Lake Tahoe police responded to Mo's Place in the 3600 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard at 12:36 a.m. with a fight reported between patrons and bar security, authorities said. When officers arrived, they learned that the business owner had been punched and knocked unconscious by a patron who had been asked to leave the establishment due to unruly conduct.

Solar Project No Short-Term Energy Panacea For Nevada Office Of Military

CARSON CITY – Nevada’s Office of the Military figured it would be money ahead after entering into a contract with a firm to build solar panels on three of its sites around the state to supply it with electricity.
But today officials with the office won approval from the state Board of Examiners to seek $46,284 from a legislative contingency fund to pay excess utility costs. The reason is because the solar energy being provided under the contract is costing the agency more than if it purchased electricity directly from NV Energy.

Details remain vague with arrest in nearly 32-year South Lake Tahoe murder of Richard Swanson

Authorities have arrested a Carmichael, Calif., man suspected in the 1980 South Lake Tahoe gas station robbery and murder of 16-year-old Richard Swanson.
After nearly 32 years, On March 28, Andrew Sanford, 50, was arrested and booked in the Sacramento County Jail for the alleged murder of Swanson. The robbery and homicide happened on Aug. 14, 1980 in South Lake Tahoe at what was then the Shell Gas Station located at the “Y” on the corner of Lake Tahoe Blvd and Emerald Bay Road. Details of the case have been kept tightly under wraps.

West slope pair arrested; drugs found, stolen property recovered

At least $50,000 worth of stolen property was recovered, drugs were seized and two people were arrested on the West Slope of El Dorado County.
Detectives and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail served search warrants, including a storage container, at two different locations in Pollock Pines on March 21, said Lt. Tim Becker in a news release.

Authorities ask for help in locating family of twin elderly South Lake Tahoe sisters found dead

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating family members of elderly twins, Patricia and Joan Miller, 73, who were found dead in their South Lake Tahoe home on February 26. The nature of their deaths hasn't been determined, however, foul play has been ruled out, said Sheriff's Lt. Bryan Golmitz. The cause and manner of death is still being investigated by El Dorado County Sheriff’s detectives and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

El Dorado authorities arrest Cameron Park man after woman found dead

El Dorado County authorities have arrested a 45-year-old Cameron Park man in connection with the apparent murder of a woman found Monday morning.
Todd Alan Winkler, 45, was arrested Monday night and is being held in El Dorado County Jail without bond for reasons related to the homicide, said Lt. Bryan Golmitz.

Lake Tahoe, Reno to host Chinese Cosmos pageant

Nevada will host 18 contestants from all over the world who are competing in the Miss Chinese Cosmos Semi-Finals, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, chair of the Nevada Commission on Tourism, announced today in a press release.

The event will take place in Reno and Lake Tahoe from Sept. 23-30, 2011. The contest moves around the world each year, last year taking place in Sydney, Australia. This is the first time the pageant has been held in the United States.
