Body and wreckage of airplane found southwest of Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Tue, 10/18/2016 - 4:31pmA missing aircraft and its pilot were located Tuesday at 4:15 p.m. in a rugged area of the Sierra Nevada southwest of Lake Schmidell, which is west of Maggie's Peak and Lake Tahoe.
Searchers found the wreckage as a result of a photograph taken by a Civil Air Patrol crew who was flying in the probable location of the missing aircraft. The coordinates from the photograph were passed along to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s ground team who hiked into the site and confirmed the crashed aircraft and a deceased male victim outside of the plane.

Submitted by paula on Mon, 10/17/2016 - 1:14pmPoor weather has hampered the search for a pilot and his Cessna, missing since Saturday when they were expected at a Jackson, Calif., airport. The unnamed pilot was flying from Idaho.
Aircraft from CHP and Civil Air Patrol being used for a low level visual search are unable to do so as they've been unable to a visual on the ground. Search and rescue teams from El Dorado County Sheriff's Office are actively searching for the plane and pilot on the ground. Radar analysis and air forensics teams are still able to assist the ground search.
Wreckage of missing plane found in Douglas County, 2 dead
Submitted by Editor on Thu, 04/18/2013 - 3:19pmWreckage from an airplane that has been missing since early this week was found Thursday afternoon in the Pine Nut Mountains in southern Douglas County, authorities confirm.
At 2:20 pm the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue with the assistance from Lyon County Search and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff’s Helicopter (Raven) and Civil Air Patrol, located the missing aircraft.
