Clean Tahoe’s Furniture Sale and Antique Silent Auction to benefit the Dinner Table Project will be held on Saturday, August 18th from 9am – 3pm.
Antiques and other furniture for sale can be previewed in advance from August 15th-17th from 1pm-4pm at 921 Eloise Ave. Unit B.
Silent auction items are: Two antique hutches, white antique couch, antique dresser, antique rocking chair, and an antique cherry wood buffet.

Children’s Book Drive to Benefit Kids in South Lake Tahoe

Staff and members of the Governing Board at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency got into the holiday spirit this year by trying to make the holidays a little nicer for some local children and families in need.

“We know many local families are struggling this year,” said Jill Larson, one of the organizers of TRPA’s holiday drive. “The staff really wanted to help,” she said.

As demand soars, Christmas Cheer makes plea for help

The Great Recession continues to rear its head here at home, with demands on social services soaring and a genuine fear that South Shore’s food bank won’t be able to provide Christmas dinner for a record number of families in need.
For 30 years, the Christmas Cheer food bank has helped families celebrate Christmas with a traditional dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. However, with 800 families expected to be on the list of those to receive a dinner, the charity has only 75 donated turkeys and five hams to give and organizers say they are beyond being nervous.

Livestrong, American Century give $100,000 to South Lake Tahoe area nonprofits

The holiday arrived early for 27 South Lake Tahoe non-profit organizations Thursday, Dec. 8, as $100,000 in charitable contributions was distributed on behalf of LIVESTRONG® and the American Century Championship by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.

“We’re fortunate to have the support from LIVESTRONG, NBC Sports and American Century Investments to assist to the local community,” said Carol Chaplin, executive director of the LTVA in a news release. “In addition to an outstanding event which attracts visitors, our 22-year partnership also helps local groups in need.”

Young Professionals’ raise more than $3,000 for Tahoe Youth & Family Services (SLIDESHOW)

Winter White was the theme at Tahoe Regional Young Professionals’ (TRYP) inaugural holiday party raising more than $3,000 for Tahoe Youth & Family Services (TYFS) on Saturday, November 19 at Riva Grill.

“I was speechless,” Heather Avila, TYFS Alcohol and Drug Counselor and The Girls Project Coordinator said. “It was an emotional moment for me. I have never seen generosity in such abundance!”

TRPA Taking Holiday Donations for Families in Need

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is partnering with Christmas Cheer All Year and St. Theresa’s Catholic Church to collect donations for local families in need this holiday season.

“We are concerned that so many local families are struggling right now,” said Joanne Marchetta, Executive Director for TRPA. “We want to help make sure that no local child goes without warm clothes and that families don’t go hungry this holiday season.”

Tahoe Magic fundraiser at Coyote Grill

A chili dinner is set for Dec. 1, at Coyote Grill in the Round Hill Plaza to benefit Tahoe Magic, a South Shore Lake Tahoe organization formed in 1992 that serves families and individuals in the Tahoe community that are in need of temporary financial assistance. The fundraiser runs from 5 to 10 p.m. and costs $1 for a bowl of chili. Twenty percent of the fundraiser will go to Tahoe Magic.
