Keep Tahoe Blue Earth Day volunteers gather 750 pounds of trash and 6000 cigarette butts
Submitted by paula on Tue, 04/23/2019 - 1:48pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Over 60 people volunteered at the 5th annual South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Cleanup on Monday, April 23. They removed 750 pounds of trash which equals to 1,047 gallons of littler, as well as over 6,000 cigarette butts in just three hours.
As the warmer weather continues to melt snow, trash is being exposed. Not only is this an unsightly mess it can also be a hazard to wildlife and the lake's clarity.

Patagonia’s newest film, Finding Fontinalis, will have its South Lake Tahoe premiere on Thursday, July 6 at South Lake Brewing Company.
Local Freshies, in association with Patagonia, is hosting the free, family friendly event. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.
This premiere is a fundraiser for California Trout.
Earth Day Community Cleanup in South Lake Tahoe

April 19, 2017 - 9:00am Celebrate Earth Day with a Community Cleanup on Wednesday, April 19 from 9:00 a.m. to noon in South Lake Tahoe.
During the snow melt, trash becomes exposed and needs to be picked it up. Help the League to Save Lake Tahoe celebrate Earth Month and join in for a cleanup. They will provide cleanup materials and a prize. Bring your reusable water bottle and friends.
The clean up event is in partnership with Azul Latin Kitchen, Basecamp Pizza, California Burger Company, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Marriott Timber Lodge, Patagonia at Heavenly and South Tahoe Refuse.

The high-end outdoor apparel and gear retailer announced the record-breaking haul Monday, saying the “enormous love” its customers showed to the planet will benefit hundreds of grassroots environmental organizations around the world.

Kudos: Winter Wine Walk BAHM!
Submitted by paula on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 11:47pmDespite the power outages and high winds in the South Shore, the Marriott Grand Residence Club was warm and cozy (with power!) on Thursday night, which made it the perfect first stop for TahoeChamber’s annual Winter Wine Walk Business After Hours Mixer (BAHM!). Nearly 100 guests began their tours at the Marriott Grand Residence Club with a taste from Crystal Basin Cellars before embarking on a tour to participating businesses. Each shop welcomed attendees with food, drinks and raffle prizes. It was a fun, blustery night that included great food, wine and friends.

Summertime guests will have the opportunity to swing through the trees and fly through the air on new experiences including the Boulder Cove and Black Bear Challenge Courses, the Discovery Forest Canopy Course and the 3,300 foot-long Blue Streak zip line. On Friday, June 13, Heavenly Mountain Resort will open these expanded offerings to the public seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through September 1.

Early-season storms combined with the West Coast’s largest snowmaking system have given Heavenly the ability to stage its earliest opening since 2004-05. All access to the mountain at this time is through the Heavenly Gondola and Tamarack Express.

I feel like our group had many salient ideas that were not properly represented. Also, I have noticed that people are quick to offer ideas like “reduce unemployment”, “beautify the city”, and “improve recreation”, but they are typically unable to offer suggestions on how to make those ideas a reality.
