The Tahoe Area Coordinating Council for the Disabled is being recognized by area restaurants in celebration of the council's 31 years. Taqueria Jalisco in South Lake Tahoe will host lunch, dinner and recognize TACCD on Oct. 25. Taqueria Jalisco is located at 3097 Harrison Avenue behind Rojos.

In celebration of Tahoe Area Coordinating Council for the Disabled’s 31-year anniversary, TACCD is being honored by five restaurants and an invitation to fund raise at a local community event. On Sunday more than, 3,300-plus bicycling enthusiasts from all over the country will participate in the 21st annual America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride around Lake Tahoe.

Local orthopedic physicians will screen children for possible acceptance into the medical programs offered by Shriners Hospital for Children Northern California at a screening clinic sponsored by the Kerak Shriners on Saturday, March 31. The screening clinic will take place from 9 a.m.

Frontline employee appreciation day includes all retail and hospitality employees in the Lake Tahoe area. Each employee must show a recent paycheck stub and valid driver’s license at the Season Pass Office in the Village Plaza to receive a free ticket. Frontline employee appreciation days are the last Wednesday of every month.

The Great Recession continues to rear its head here at home, with demands on social services soaring and a genuine fear that South Shore’s food bank won’t be able to provide Christmas dinner for a record number of families in need.
For 30 years, the Christmas Cheer food bank has helped families celebrate Christmas with a traditional dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. However, with 800 families expected to be on the list of those to receive a dinner, the charity has only 75 donated turkeys and five hams to give and organizers say they are beyond being nervous.

The Lakeview Commons Project, a partnership between the California Tahoe Conservancy and the City of South Lake Tahoe, spans the beach area that was once known to locals as El Dorado Beach. Approaching from the western side is the boat ramp, and a newly constructed Boathouse. The downstairs will feature storage lockers for paddle boards and kayaks, restrooms, and a boat rental area. Upstairs will be a concession stand and patio with a gas fire pit and a more commercial size barbeque with a cook top.

A simplified fare structure will greet BlueGo passengers this weekend and a new route between Minden and Carson City begins Monday, the Tahoe Transportation District announced today.
