Douglas County is kicking off the process to update the Master Plan Text and is calling on residents to help shape the future of their community. A webpage has been constructed to provide the public with additional information regarding the update and public outreach has begun.

A commercial is being filmed at the lake August 21-22 and the casting director, Kristen Beck, is looking for swimmers and jumpers interested in being in a pharma commercial. All genders and ethnicities may apply. Screen Actors Guild (SAD) wages apply but participants may be non-union.

School board meeting Tuesday to select new member, discuss budget and graduation

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Unified School District will be holding a regularly scheduled board meeting on Tuesday, May 26 at 5:00 p.m., followed by closed session.
The meeting can be viewed on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHZeyuZYC9ZXKyTO2k-sJ5Q, and public comment can be made in three ways (see at the end of the story).
A provisional board member will be selected Tuesday night. Three people have applied to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Barbara Bannar. Vying to fill out her term are Chris Proctor, David Wise, and Lauri Kemper.
Council approves $200,000 to go to business grants, COVID expenses and restaurant vouchers
Submitted by paula on Wed, 05/13/2020 - 11:01amSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - City Council approved $200,000 Tuesday to be used in the South Lake Tahoe community through business grants, COVID-related expenses, and a restaurant voucher program.
Following on the heels of their $50,000 donated to five nonprofits supplying food to the South Lake Tahoe community during the pandemic, the Council voted to follow the direction of the task force and allocate $100,000 to fund the COVID Compliance Grant Reimbursement Program, $50,000 for a Small Business Grant Program, and $50,000 to a Local Restaurant Voucher Program.
Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School kindergarten applications now being accepted

The school has started taking names for the Fall ‘20 “line-up” of kindergartners.

Directors, actors, designers wanted for Spring Theatre at LTCC

This Spring, rather than just one theatrical offering, Lake Tahoe Community College’s (LTCC) Duke Theatre will instead be home to four one-act plays helmed by either a student or community director. The four selected directors will get the chance to choose their sets, lighting, and costumes, and will be given full reign and expert support to create a brilliant theatrical event. The final result will be a two-week run of performances in LTCC’s Duke Theatre with all four one-act plays featured each night.
Artists sought for summer program at Valhalla in South Lake Tahoe

As part of the Valhalla Art, Music & Theatre Festival, an annual summer arts festival at the historic Heller (Valhalla) Estate, the artists are highlighted in the Viking Gallery.
Valhalla Tahoe invites artists to submit a proposal for consideration for the 2017 season.

Local videographers are encouraged to submit a proposal for a short video that helps share the Tahoe South brand objectives in a fun and engaging manner. The completed video will act as the centerpiece in the LTVA’s efforts to increase awareness for “Tahoe South” in the community.

My name is Kimberly Vela and I am producing an independent film called "Flounder."
This film follows a young boy as he escapes his unfit home and destructive parents. On his quest to find peace in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Isaiah meets interesting and loving characters including John Hudson, a kind-hearted father figure. This journey ends up taking him to the forest where he befriends a group of teenagers who have also run away from home for various reasons to live together as a group, striving on independence from adults.

A preliminary environmental report has been completed on the Tahoe Valley Area Plan and is ready for public input.
This report is created so the agencies developing the plan can determine whether a nEnvironmental Impact Report (EIR), a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND), or a Negative Declaration is required for a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines.
Douglas County looking for Clerk/Treasurer to fill anticipated vacancy

Thran resigned in August but was re-elected in November. His second resignation is expected. The term will begin on January 5, 2015.

The best qualified candidates are currently being reviewed and are slated to be presented to the Board of County Commissioners on July 17, 2014. Following the selection of top candidates, and interview panel including advisory members from the public will be part of the extensive interview process.
No additional judge in Douglas County East Fork Justice Court

The announcement was made public in a news release sent Monday.
State law requires that an additional judge be added to the township when it reaches 34,000 in population. According to Nevada's demographer, the population of East Fork Township is 39,907. In a letter written to the Legislative Counsel Bureau, Judge Perkins said:
