Another roof collapses in South Lake Tahoe after wet winter
Submitted by paula on Wed, 04/12/2017 - 6:58pmSouth Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue responded to a roof collapse at the corner of 3rd Street and South Street Wednesday morning.
A portion of the roof collapsed due in part to lack of maintenance and the snow and rain load it experienced this winter. The home was not occupied and the out-of-town home owner was already planning to work on the home/lot this summer.
Even though snow has melted off many roofs in the Lake Tahoe area, damage can still be experienced as seen on this home with a flat roof.

South Lake Tahoe Mayor Sass: Snow removal, fire code, state of emergency and more
Submitted by paula on Sat, 01/28/2017 - 8:41amIt’s been great seeing all of my friends and acquaintances who have lived here for less than 10 years posting photos and sharing how Snowmageddon 2017 has blown them away. I did the same when I first moved to Tahoe back in the 70’s and storms like this were not uncommon. Back then playing was more important than clearing the snow. I had a big Dodge Ram 4x4 pickup and I j drove over the snow in my driveway and packed it down. I did not own a snowblower and can’t remember shoveling much. One year the packed snow was so high I could not get the truck under the carport.
