STHS grad Kate Lambdin completes challenging Antartica Marathon

When one thinks of Antartica they most likely don't think of the continent as a place to vacation, let alone a place to run a marathon. But 200 runners did just that March 16-17, 2018 when they tackled a challenging 26.2 course on King George’s Island.

Cave Rock tunnel to be extended 60 feet this summer

The westbound, lakeside Cave Rock tunnel entrance will get a makeover this summer, one that will stop rocks from falling onto Highway 50, add lighting to the inside of the tunnel as well as adding water quality improvements.

Devin Cartwright, Supervisor with the Nevada Department of Transportation's Roadway Design Division, spoke to the South Lake Tahoe Lodging Association Thursday, giving them a overview of the project that will bring with it one lane of traffic in each direction, causing some traffic delays, 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week from May to October, 2016.

Northstar's summer activities launch May 15

Outdoor enthusiasts in Lake Tahoe will soon be able to access one of the North Shore's most popular destinations, Northstar California.

The Northstar Golf Course opens on May 15 with the rest of the extensive variety of summer adventure following with a May 22 grand opening.

Memorial Day Weekend marks the grand summer opening of the mountain bike park, hiking trails, and all activities, dining and shopping offered throughout The Village at Northstar.

Barton Health offers fitness training for local running events

There are some big running events in South Lake Tahoe this summer and Barton Health is providing the tools needed to perform safely and at your peak.

The community is invited to join Barton Health’s “Train for an Event Fitness Challenge” from March to June.

“Whether you are just getting off the couch or a seasoned athlete, this program is designed to motivate you and make you game day ready for one of our local race events,” said Krista Carson, Barton Health’s program coordinator.

Late Night Runners in South Lake Tahoe for Reno-Tahoe Odyssey

Runners with lights and reflective gear ran through South Lake Tahoe Friday night as part of the 10th Annual Reno-Tahoe Odyssey relay race. Drivers in town might have seen the blinking arrows, informing runners of the route. Others in town reported seeing the bonfires and groups of people stationed where runners were changed. The Beachcomber Inn housed one team for a quick nap and shower before they headed to the finish.
