One man dies in Lake Tahoe boating accident
Submitted by paula on Mon, 08/10/2020 - 6:07pmUPDATE 8/11/20: A 28-year-old man from Napa, California has been identified as the person who died in a tragic boat incident off shore from South Lake Tahoe on Monday. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) Marine unit responded along with South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District and the U.S. Coast Guard.
When the call came in around 3:40 p.m., two men were in the water and a third was inside a rental boat. One of the men, David Castorena, had a major injury to his leg and he as not wearing a personal floatation device, or PFD.
Three rescued by Coast Guard on south end of Lake Tahoe
Submitted by paula on Tue, 09/20/2016 - 8:38pmLAKE TAHOE - Three people were rescued after a distress call led the Coast Guard to the 25-foot vessel, JUST ENOUGH, as it was taking on water near the California/Nevada border of the South Shore of Lake Tahoe Tuesday afternoon.
The initial call came in at 3:00 p.m. and crews from Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County Sheriffs Department responded to the scene.
Husband a "person of interest" in death of 82-year-old woman

Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators have released the name of the deceased woman found in a home at 1471 Edlesborough Circle in Gardnerville, NV.
She has been identified as 82-year-old Phyllis Lewis.
The man who barricaded himself inside his residence where his wife was found is William Lewis, 86. He is currently being treated at a local hospital for unspecified medical issues.
An autopsy will be completed on Phyllis to determine the cause death. William Lewis has been named a person of interest in his wife's death.

Two Women Found Dead of Gunshot Wounds Inside Burned Placerville Home
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/11/2014 - 8:04amTwo women were found deceased inside a house fire in Placerville on Friday morning. El Dorado County Fire responded to the house fire on Rose Lane at 5:48 a.m. Upon extinguishing the fire they found the women inside. The Coroner's office has determined that their cause of death to be gunshot wounds.
62 year old Carol Hague and 58 year old Crystal Ann Ward have been identified as the victims.
Arson investigators responded to the scene along with Coroner and Sheriff’s Office investigative personnel. An investigation is continuing into the fire and the deaths.
Three Arrested For String of West Slope Burglaries
Submitted by paula on Thu, 12/12/2013 - 5:32pmThe El Dorado County Sheriff's Department retrieved hundreds of stolen items from a home in Georgetown after investigating a series of burglaries in the towns of Pollock Pines, Camino, Placerville and Georgetown. They arrested three residents of a home after conducting a search of a home following discovery of a stolen car.
Jeri Acuna, a 37 year old woman was arrested for possession of stolen property and a stolen vehicle, Ryann Jana Leidel, a 32 year old female was arrested for two outstanding felony warrants. Parolee Tommie Richard Stover was arrested on two other felony warrants.
El Dorado County Sheriff's Department Seeks Help in Finding Missing Girl
Submitted by paula on Wed, 11/06/2013 - 2:33pm11/12/13 update: The El Dorado County Sheriffs Department is reporting that Juliet Riffey was found on Monday, 11/11 after receiving a 911 call. The caller had reported seeing Riffey in the Cameron Park area and have classified the situation as a voluntary runaway. No other details are available.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating an At-Risk Runaway Juvenile, Juliet Riffey.
