With seven to ten domestic violence cases reported each week on the South Shore, the universal issue of violence against women isn't just a big city problem.

One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day of 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at seven billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls.

City Council Makes MoveTowards Increasing Recreation Area in South Lake Tahoe

You may have noticed all of the blue snow plows at their home next to the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center, Ice Arena and Campground on Rufus Allen Boulevard. During the last city council meeting there was a unanimous vote to move the current Public Works Streets Division yard (that houses the snow plows) to a new home on the corner of D Street and Shop Street. The council voted to spend just under $400,000 on the purchase, thus paving the way to further expand the work on the 56 acre project.
