Event Date:
January 25, 2015 - 6:00pm
With seven to ten domestic violence cases reported each week on the South Shore, the universal issue of violence against women isn't just a big city problem.
One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day of 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at seven billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls.
South Lake Tahoe will be participating in the event with a flash mob on Valentine's day, location to be announced soon. Everyone is invited to practice the flash mob dance at 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 25 at Splie Gym, which is located at 1611 Shop Street in South Lake Tahoe.
More information will be available on the group's facebook page.
