Tahoe Youth and Family Services is hosting their Annual Evening of Giving on December 11 at the agency's offices at 1021 Fremont Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. Refreshments will be served at the event which is from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
The agency has a wish list oh in-kind donations for the holidays:
Items for clients:
Hand warmers
Warm sleeping bags
Winter boots (adult sizes)
Winter coats (adult sizes)
winter gloves or heavy duty mittens (adult sizes)
knit hats and beanies
Tents (new or gently used)
Men's boxers (adult size small)

With a continually reducing inventory of homes on the market and the interest rates still at an all time low, I believe we'll continue to see strong sales.
Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort hosts canned food drive for the Food Bank of El Dorado County

Titled CANucopia, Sierra Resort is encouraging guests to bring canned non-perishable foods such as canned soup, dried pasta, crackers, and pasta sauce to the collection bin located at the base of the mountain next to the season pass office until January 12, 2013.

February 2, 2012 (All day) The Community Education department at Lake Tahoe Community College presents “Get Fresh and Healthy” workshop series. This is a series of four workshops; however you can register for individual workshops OR for all four together! Each workshop is ONLY $38!!
• Cooking with Spices is on Thursday, February 2nd from 6pm-9pm.
This exciting workshop will help you learn to elevate the flavor of foods by using different herb and spice blends. The facilitator of this workshop is local and master gardener, Diane Weidinger.
• The Winter Soup Workshop is on Friday, February 10th from 6pm-9pm.

Along with jars, tubs are stacked on a table at the end of the island. More jars crowd one end of the countertop. Weidinger is filling an order including blends of Egyptian, Scandinavian and Moroccan spices and more for a customer who wants to highlight workplace diversity.
As demand soars, Christmas Cheer makes plea for help

For 30 years, the Christmas Cheer food bank has helped families celebrate Christmas with a traditional dinner of turkey and all the trimmings. However, with 800 families expected to be on the list of those to receive a dinner, the charity has only 75 donated turkeys and five hams to give and organizers say they are beyond being nervous.
