Every year, men, women and children get their heads shaved to raise funds to fight childhood cancer. This year, a new sponsor for the event has come forward, LuLu Hair Design, and there will be a new venue, Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

Dianna Souza, the owner, and her staff at LuLu's wanted to keep this popular fundraiser going, so put together the event quickly and are looking for support, and participants, from the community.

Heads are shaved in South Lake Tahoe to raise money to fight childhood cancer

One by one they lined up. Boys and girls, men and women, families, fire fighters, ski patrol, students and dozens of others all lined up at Heavenly Mountain Resort Friday night to have their heads shaved, all in the name of children's cancer research. 110 people in total stopped by to "Brave the Shave" and raise funds to support research of childhood cancer.

Brave the Shave event in South Lake Tahoe to raise funds for kids fighting cancer

The 12th annual Brave the Shave event for children and young adults fighting cancer will be held at Heavenly Mountain Resort's California Lodge in South Lake Tahoe Friday, March 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Everyone is invited to join this St. Baldrick's event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, you can be a part of the excitement!

LTCC Fire Academy shaving heads at St. Baldrick's; Seeking donations

Students in Class 10 of the Lake Tahoe Basin Fire Academy are shaving their heads to raise money to find cures for childhood cancers during the annual St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser on March 5 at Heavenly Mountain Resort, and they are seeking the community's support.

St. Baldrick's is a volunteer-powered charity that shows solidarity with young cancer patients through annual head-shaving events around the world that raise awareness and money for cancer research.

Heads Shaved to Raise Funds for Cancer Research

Bailey Johnson was a four time Stage 4 cancer survivor by the time he was 5. Now a student at South Tahoe High, Bailey underwent surgery just over three weeks ago to help straighten his spine which was damaged while undergoing radiation.

Caitlyn Drennan is 3 1/2. She was diagnosed with cancer at birth and underwent chemotherapy when just 2 days old. She now needs a walker due paralysis below the knee but is a survivor of Stage 4 Neuroblastoma.

South Lake Tahoe Locals Shaving Heads on Saturday

At least 77 of your neighbors and friends will be participating in the 3rd Annual South Lake Tahoe St. Baldrick's headshaving event on Saturday, March 1 at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. What was developed by three businessmen from New York City in 1999 as a way to give back to their community has turned into over 1,000 nation wide events each year that are held to raise money to help find cures for childhood cancer. Since becoming a non-profit in 2005, St. Baldrick's Foundation has given out $125,251,567 in grants.
