Fan life at the 2019 American Century Championship

A bit of magic took place on the 17th hole this weekend at Edgewood Tahoe golf course when Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry asked a young fan dressed in all-Warriors gear to join him on the green. Tyler Golla from Sparks ran on to the course to meet his favorite idol.
Security followed closely behind as Curry made Golla, 15, comfortable by letting him take part in an improvised hoops shoot-out in front of hundreds of fans – and with Justin Timberlake joining the competition. As Golla shot the ball, Curry and Timberlake signed his Warriors hat.

Justin Timberlake has such a hectic schedule that he's had to fly away from the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe not once, but twice, to head off to other engagements, only to return in time to tee off.
On Wednesday, JT golfed 18 holes in the Harrah's-Amateur tournament.
On Thursday, JT appeared at Comic Con in San Diego as part of the promotion for his upcoming movie, Trolls.
On Friday, he has a 6:50 a.m. tee time in Lake Tahoe, and an evening event, reportedly in Florida.

The American Century Golf Championship officially gets underway on Friday with round one of the 26th annual tournament in South Lake Tahoe.

The first glimpse the fans at the 7th hole at Edgewood Tahoe had of Justin Timberlake on Thursday was as he crept up the small hill from the 6th hole, hiding behind the signs lining the tee box.
Why you ask?
A fun and rowdy group of friends from Sacramento had taken control of the hole, their antics heard from all ends of the course. (Follow SouthTahoeNow for that story later today)
"I've heard about you guys, you're world famous," said Timberlake.
Tahoe Celebrity Golf pairings for Wednesday

Some of the celebrity golfers participating in the 26th annual American Century Golf Championship will be playing in a celebrity-am tournament on Wednesday. Tee-off times are scheduled between 8:35 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. Other celebrities will be playing practice rounds throughout the day.

Two Grow Domes going in at Sierra House Elementary; $117,000 raised so far

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) approved two grow domes to be installed at Sierra House Elementary School. Ground is being broken on the project area this weekend and the project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Lightening causes Tahoe Celebrity Golf play to be suspended
Submitted by paula on Sun, 07/20/2014 - 3:30pmLightening has caused a delay at Edgewood Tahoe for the 25th American Century Golf Championship. Television coverage on NBC will be switched over to NBCSN if play resumes.
The leaders at the time the storm horns sounded were Jeremy Roenick and Mark Rypien tied at 64, with Hall-of-Famer Annika Sorenstam currently in third place with 62 points. If the tournament is able to conclude, play will resume with the leaders playing the 16th hole.
Spectator hit by ball on the 18th hole during Tahoe Celebrity Golf action

Larry the Cable Guy hit a shank on his tee shot on the 18th hole Saturday, hitting a bystander in the head and knocking him down.
The visibly shaken celebrity (who's real name is Daniel Lawrence "Larry" Whitney) rushed to the side of a spectator along with golfing partners Charles Barkley and Kevin Nealon.
Sheriff's officers, tournament officials and paramedics were on the scene and rendered first aid. The spectator was taken to the medical tent with a bag of ice over his head.

The crowds were out in force for round two of the 25th Annual American Century Golf Championship in South Lake Tahoe Saturday. The beach on 17 was packed as usual with boaters and sunbathers waiting for their chance to play games of toss and catch with the dozens of celebrities that always join in the fun.

Even though the celebrity golfers in South Lake Tahoe have had practice rounds and celebrity-amateur tournaments over the last few days, Friday marks the official first day of the 25th Annual American Century Championship.
The 29 groups of players will start off from the first tee and tenth tee starting at 9:10 a.m. They will alternate tees until the last group tees off at 11:30 a.m.

The 25th Annual American Century Golf Championship which is played at South Lake Tahoe's Edgewood Tahoe is just 3 months away! This year's event takes place July 15 through July 20.
Discounted season pass tickets are now available for $50 which makes the daily ticket price just $8.33. The Lake Tahoe tournament is the No. 1 celebrity golf event in the country.

This year's event will feature a hero among the slate of celebrities from the sports and entertainment fields. Retired United States Army Corporal Chad Pfeifer, an Iraqi War Veteran and amputee whose golf-centered rehabilitation has turned him into a top-tier tournament player, will play in the July tournament.
